The Scary Uncle

The elder brother panicked when he witnessed her firm stance which indicated that she wasn't just acting out but had made up her mind to cut ties with him.

To avoid such an outcome, he hurriedly shook his head and grabbed her hand once again.

"Chansey! How can you even say that!?" He blurted out while putting on an aggrieved expression.

However, he gained no sympathy from his little sister who only gazed at him in silence.

Camille was annoyed after hearing what this new brother of hers had just said so how could she have the time and patience to care about how he felt?

Therefore, she maintained that stern look on her face and did nothing to alleviate the dark atmosphere that now surrounded them.

Finding no response from her, the elder brother could only give in which made him heave a loud and defeated sigh.

"How can we bear to send you away when you need us the most?" He revealed what he truly felt with a bitter smile forming on his lips.

Earlier, his concern as her elder brother had overtaken his thoughts which was also why he had mentioned the abortion.

He simply did not wish to watch her suffering alone as pregnancy and motherhood was no joke.

However, he was now aware of how she felt about this child and it was also clear that he had failed in convincing her to undergo the surgery.

Since she had already made up her mind and was determined to follow through with it, he could no longer persist in his ways as that might push her away from him.

"I was never going to force my thoughts on you." He explained that it was never his intention to go against her wishes.

If she wanted to keep the baby then as the future uncle, he could only stay by her side and help her in whatever way he could.

Thus as he disclosed what he meant by his earlier statement, he patted her head which was a gesture he often used when he gave in to his little sister's demands.

"So don't mention anything about leaving ever again." He warned and even harrumphed when he saw her nodding in immediate reply.

A bright smile appeared on Camille's face the moment those words were uttered, following which she then lowered her head to glance at her stomach.

"Baby, your uncle might look scary but he is a good person." She muttered, introducing the child within her womb to the man who no longer threatened its existence.

As she spoke to her child, she rubbed her belly gently while also letting out a little chuckle which revealed that she was pleased with this outcome.

Upon hearing these words, the elder brother's lips twitched because she made him sound like the villain but watching her being so gentle, he chose not to ruin the mood for now.

Earlier, Camille was worried that he might force her to undergo the procedure if she remained stubborn and rejected his suggestions.

This would go against the wishes of the original owner of this body and that was not what she wanted to happen.

Thankfully, her worries were for naught and the elder brother wasn't tyrannical about his decisions and gave way to what she had planned for her future.

This helped relieve the anxiety in her heart which brought that bright smile to her face.

Once she completed this belated introduction between her child and the future uncle, she raised her head to look at him once again.

By now, he had already managed to regain his composure so all Camille saw was the neutral expression that was a common sight in the memories she had gained.

"Do I have to spend the night here?" She inquired about her stay at the hospital as this was not a place she was comfortable spending more time.

The pain she had experienced when she first awoke in this body had dissipated thus she no longer felt the need to stay in this place.

Though the room was spacious and appeared to be cozy, it was Camille's personal preference that made it difficult for her to stay here any longer.

Hence she inquired about it without delay as would like to leave right away.

When the elder brother saw that she wasn't comfortable staying here, he had no reason to keep her against her will.

Therefore, he shook his head and revealed that they could leave once the doctor permitted them.

He should have called for the doctor the moment she rose from her unconscious state but he had a lot on his mind that he needed to clarify.

Hence the doctor's arrival was delayed but now that they had discussed everything, the medical professionals could be called to check on her.

So he pressed the button by her bed which alerted the nurse's station, prompting one of them to hurry inside.

Within a few seconds, a middle-aged nurse stepped into the room.

This was the same lady who had been in charge of running the tests for the patient on the bed.

When the nurse noticed that the patient was awake, she checked on her and smiled when she saw that the soon-to-be mother was doing well.

"You should stay away from anything that causes allergic reactions in the future." She advised and reminded the patient to be careful for the sake of the child growing within her.

Camille wasn't the one who had fallen sick due to the allergic reaction as that was the original owner of this body.

Nevertheless, she nodded her head obediently while assuring the nurse that she would keep this in mind.

The nurse liked sensible patients who did not make things difficult for her so she was pleased with this response and spoke a few words before informing her that the doctor would come by in a few minutes.

Having done her job, the nurse left the room and the room regained its former silence.

While waiting for the doctor to arrive, Camille pondered over certain matters while her brother decided to check his phone to see if he had received any important mail.

"What sent me to the hospital?" She questioned once she was done soul-searching.

A moment ago, when the nurse had advised her to pay attention to what she consumed in the future, a certain thought had popped up in her mind.

In her previous life, she was allergic to all kinds of shellfish, and even touching one would cause her to break out into rashes.

Things would get much worse if she consumed them accidentally as they had the ability to close up her throat, making it impossible for her to breathe without immediate medical attention.

Therefore, she had been cautious to never come in contact with any kind of shellfish as long as she was alive in that previous life.

Now, it appeared that this body also possessed a similar kind of allergy which was life-threatening to her.

After all, the original owner of this body had perished due to the allergen that she had accidentally consumed at dinner this evening.

This much, Camille was aware of, however, no matter how much she tried to recall, she found no recollection of what she had eaten which had brought this body to the hospital in the first place.

'What kind of shellfish did she consume?' She wondered as there was a large variety of sea creatures that fell under the category of shellfish.

She had been allergic to every single one of them in her previous life so she wished to know which one had caused this severe reaction to the original owner of this body.

"What do you mean?" The reply was another question that came from the man seated next to her bed.

The elder brother had been focusing on his phone, hence was unable to decipher what she was trying to ask of him.

Since Camille could not find any memories regarding the item that had caused this reaction, she could only seek help from the other person who had been at that dinner table with her.

Therefore, she decided to reiterate her question to the only one who could be of any assistance to her.

"What did I eat?" She reframed and simplified her question to be more direct before waiting to hear what he had to say.

This time, the elder brother stopped what he was doing and raised his head, fixing his gaze on her as an absurd expression formed on his face.

"Chansey, you only have one allergy so what do you think sent you here?" He retorted with a sarcastic tone which wasn't too helpful to the young lady who resisted the desperate urge to roll her eyes at him.

'So she only has one allergy…?' Camille grabbed what she could find from his words but none of that was too useful to her.

After all, she too had only one allergy, shellfish.

It was just that there was a large variety of creatures that fell under that category.
