Ch 142: Golden Heart Locket

I wanted to crawl under the table.

"Two thousand!" Ace raised his stick.

"Six thousand," Max outdid his bid.

"Nine thousand!" Ace called.

"Going once, going twice! The auctioneer slammed his hammer down. "Sold!"

All that for an antique violin that Rose liked.

"Next up is a crown ruby necklace," the auctioneer announced.

"Six thousand!" Kai shouts along with others bidding.

"Nine thousand!" I heard Orlando's voice call out.

"A million!" Kai shouts.

"Four million!" Orlando screamed louder.

"Kai, just stop." I frowned, then the hammer smacked down.

"Sold for four million!"

"You know I was buying you that," Kai frowned and I shook my head displeased. Next, Mr. Collin and Mr. Mill were trying to outbid each other. Since the auction started it hasn't stopped. Zoey wanted to die when Chester and CJ began outbidding one another. It was getting ridiculous.

Another hour later, Kai won the last piece of the crown blue diamond necklace for me. His bid beat Orlando's and I said nothing to stop it this time. Everyone started getting up and mingling. When Kai left the table to get another wine. I got up from my seat and left the gallery.

I needed fresh air and found the deck just a little way down the foyer. Finally, it was quiet and peaceful. Stars and some clouds filled the night sky and it looked so beautiful, I thought staring up.

"We always used to watch the stars together," Orlando's voice entered my ears and I turned around to see him. "You found it so peaceful."

"Orlando please, you need to leave," I tried telling him. "I don't need Kai, finding me out here with you."

Orlando smiled and ignored me, "you look stunning." I tried to go but he blocked my pathway to reach the doors. "Please, I just need to know if you're ok. Night and day, I'm dying without you. I can't handle this separation."

"Just stop," I warned but he pulled this necklace out of his pocket and I was shocked when I saw it.

"How did you find this?" I asked as he set it in my palm. Years back this golden heart locket was the first gift he ever gave me. Last summer, I lost it and I was so heartbroken because we never found it. I opened it up and saw our two pictures inside it.

"You wouldn't believe that I recently found it in my luggage," he chuckled and I giggled.

"Of course, that makes sense because we had just come back from vacation at the beach," I giggled remembering that trip.

For a split second, I felt truly happy but then brokenness refilled my heart.

"Keep it," I firmly said, giving it back.

"Victoria, I bought this for you to keep," Orlando insisted by placing it in my palm as tears filled his eyes. "Keep it and never forget about me. Never stop loving me because I promise I'm going to fix this mess that you're in." He encircled me in his arms and his lips pressed on my forehead.

Time went motionless when my heart melted away the second his lips touched my skin. Emotions took over me to feel his warmth against mine. He touched my chin and veered my face up. Our eyes locked in sync together as one. I was stuck on him and he knew.

My mind fogged in a trance. I wanted to pull away but I couldn't. I couldn't deny the fact that my heart pines for him daily. Yet my mind questioned what is true or isn't true about him.

Through Orlando's eyes I know he loves me but yet he was in bed with another woman. That one image flounders my heart and soul in painful tears. I tried to yank free but he wasn't having that.

Inches by inches, he slowly leaned down and his lips moved closer. His breath aired against the flesh on my lips as he pulled me gently in to meet his. Softly, his lips brushed my bottom lip before he was about to latch.

Bang!

The doors burst open and I jerked away from Orlando's charming seduction as I saw Kai's reddened face. Steam was blowing out his ears and nostrils. Saying he was a raging bull would be an understatement for how ferocious he is.

"Don't you dare touch, my wife!" Kai shoved Orlando and snatched me in his arms. The golden heart locket clashed on the deck. As Ivan, Jack, Glenn, Ace, and Rome come darting in. At the same time, Alejandro, Zach, Max, and their other friends came dodging in.

Alejandro shouted, "don't you push my brother!"

"You keep your brother's filthy lips off my wife!" Kai was twice as aggressive.

Quite frankly, I was petrified of him. His grip on my waist tightened. I tried to pull free but it wasn't any good. It only got tighter.

"The only one with the filthy lips is you, Kai!" Orlando gnashed. "You took her from me and then behind her back you slept around!"

"That's not true!" Ace defended as Kai's grip squeezed more tightly. "You're the one who can't go one night without a woman warming your bed! You slept with Ashley and other women all the time and you know it!"

"You are so full of it, Ace!" Zach yelled. "Orlando would never cheat! Victoria is the only one he'll ever love!"

"I won't stop until she's mine again!" Orlando said angrily as he looked at my face. Droplets of tears were falling as I struggled to push Kai off me. I felt like I couldn't breathe.

"You're hurting her!" Orlando shouts and lunges toward Kai with a clenched fist to punch him.

In full strength, Kai shoved me away so hard that my heels entangled with my long gown and I stumbled on my feet.

"Stay away!" Kai yelled and again pushed my body back in full force as I was already falling.

"Aaaaah!" I cried in pain when my head and body smacked into the deck.

Pain struck my skull and everything was blurry.

"I knew it!" Orlando screamed at the top of his lungs but it all sounded like a drifting echo to me. "You are abusing her, Kai!"

"It's alright, Victoria," Ivan kneeled and held my head and I noticed was bleeding badly.

"Get out of here!" Jack yelled, pushing Max.

Mr. Collin and Mr. Mill came in with other bodyguards. They separate the fight.

"You did this on purpose, Orlando!" I last heard Rome's voice and no longer saw Kai anywhere like he just vanished before my eyes closed.
