Ch 192: Velvet Red Envelope

In the fastest sprint, Kai, Rome, Glenn, Jack, Ivan, Ace, and other vampires flew out of this bright circular portal. Within the thick forest, nearby Mr. Collin's mansion. They each land firmly on all fours and kneeled lowly on the hard ground.

White light illuminated the area where more vampires waited for their return. Kai quickly stood tall and whisked around to face the portal.

One gigantic long tentacle from an unearthly Kraken whisked out and whipped about from the gateway. Inside this dimension to another world, everyone heard this Kraken roar boisterously.

Once Kai noted everyone was out, he lifted his one arm and made a fist. The veins in his temple pulsate as he concentrated all his mindful might into what he had opened. Upon the portal shrinking in size, the Kraken moaned on the opposite gateway.

Just when the portal was closing, its tentacle was splintered off while it shut entirely. Green oozing blood splattered and sprayed like a sprinkler on nearby trees and the soil!

In the nick of time, everyone jumped back and out of the way from getting Kraken's blood on them. The nerve in the tentacle twitched, squirmed, curled, and stomped on the ground for several minutes. Until the blood drained and the nerve wiggled its last twitch.

Kai took a breath and relaxed his weary mind to regain his strength. Then he turned and looked at his friends.

"Well, I'd say that place isn't safe," Ace kinda chuckled at that comment and Kai couldn't disagree.

Several times now, Kai had been trying to find a new home for his clan. Because he only had limited time to keep Victoria safe from the Vampire Covenant if they decide to kill her. Getting extra prepared, Kai was thinking ahead of the game and made sure to have a haven to take her and his clan. Unfortunately, his plan hasn't been successful to find that sanctuary just yet.

Kai released this exhausted sigh, "for certain, it's not."

"At least it wasn't a total waste," Jack lightly chuckled and Kai pulled out a mint tin container.

He opened it up and everybody saw it was full of blue oval-shaped leaves that had green jagged edges around them. All at once, they could smell that minty flavor. Not from the tin container but it was from the unusual leaf that wasn't from earth.

"Yes, there should be enough for the pregnant vampiresses and women," Kai replied, satisfied to get this herb leaf. The leaf was a more powerful medicine to relieve nauseousness with pregnancies.

During the night, Kai helped Victoria with her sickness, and Sharlene's mother told Jack, she didn't have a good night either. Therefore, Kai, his advisors, and a few others tagged along and obtained just enough to divide up for the females carrying a vamp baby.

"Let's head to the mansion," Kai said.

In a dash, they took off together and land in a garden. Again Kai opened the tin container and a few vampires took a couple of leaves, including Jack. Whatever was left, Kai closed the lid and put it in his pocket. He had enough for his mother, Ava, and Victoria.

From there everyone parted ways except Kai's five advisors, who followed him to go inside. Until a certain smell entered his nostrils. Upon inhaling it, he flew invisibly with his friends.

Altogether, they placed their stance firmly inside his father's office. Kai sneered this untrusting sharp gaze at these five introducers meeting with his father and his five advisors.

The atmosphere in the room turned a gloomy gray. When he watches the one vampire dressed in a vampiric raven cloak, with a hood up to hide his face like the four others, hand his father a bloodred sealed stamped velvet envelope.

"The Vampire Covenant has summoned about the girl." Kai's antagonistic gaze scorn venomously to hear this messenger rank vampire, serving in the Vampire Covenant, say such alerting words in a snake-like whisper.

Everyone, including Kai, knew what it meant. The vote to determine Victoria's fate had been handed to the Collin Coven. The pressure was surreal for Kai.

All five messenger vampires turned around like hooded phantoms and then handed Kai a seal-stamped velvet-red envelope.

"Welcome to the Vampire Covenant, Sir Kai," upon their snake-like whisper to welcome him.

They each vanished on spot without saying another word. Kai opened the human blood-stained velvet red letter and read his welcome to be a part of the Vampire Covenant. Since one of Kai's guardian-ranked vampire's announced his mate was pregnant. Officially, he had enough vamp babies born from the members that had been birthed in their Coven since the beginning. Along with the evidence, he was having a vamp baby, as well.

Kai folded the letter, sighing, and saw his father had just finished reading the summon letter.

He asked, going to his father's desk where he stood near, "When's the meeting?"

"Soon, Kai, but don't stress about it," Mr. Collin eased his son. "No matter what happens, I'll make sure Victoria is safe."

Kai had no words. He couldn't puzzle his words together to try talking.

His friends and family saw Kai's attitude has been neutral. They knew he was hurt about Victoria but yet he seemed relieved that she knew the truth. Most importantly, they knew he was happier to be near her and the offspring, she carried.

"How are things going between you and Victoria?" Mr. Collin asked to change the topic.

"Her mind and heart have been poisoned by Orlando again," Kai answered in a numb yet mellow manner to indicate he was still upset. Yet, he managed his distress quite well and didn't lash out with anger.

As much as he hated to know she fell for Orlando again. He was happy because Victoria was coming home instead of running away like he thought she would. And so far she's kept her distance from those Mills.

For the week, he kept his distance because she was upset to discover he was the ruthless Pharaoh.

"Be the antidote, Kai, and win her heart back," Mr. Collin gently advised. Kai gestures a vague head nod in agreement.

Lately, he had been more reasonable and easier to talk to compared to most days.

Maybe his friends and family didn't fully understand his change of attitude. Nonetheless, they were glad to see glimpses of the old Kai they used to know come back around.

"I'm going to give this blue mint leaf to Victoria," Kai randomly said since everyone was silently watching him. It kinda made him feel weirded out.

Mr. Collin happily replied, "She slept through lunch but she woke up not too long ago. I took her to have tea with your mother on the stone deck since your Aunt Nasberry came by for a visit."

"Perfect," Kai smirked and vanished on that remark.
