Ch 191: Mr. Grumpy turned into Rome

Working together, we both made a draft of our strengths and weaknesses.

"Another strength for me would be mathematics," Nova noted and jotted it down in her notebook.

Despite our disparity in clothing styles. Nora and I hit it off like besties, which is how Crystal and I pulled it off together when I first met her. For whatever reason, I always got along with my opposites.

Unlike Crystal, Nora was shyer, but I showed her I'm nonchalant. She got comfortable with me and opened up her more fun personality.

"With that being said, you should be the one to estimate the time we survived the jungle," I noted as my phone buzzed again for the fifth time.

I dug it out of my purse and saw it was Kai. "When are you coming home, it's 9:50 pm?" he asked in the text.

I sighed, and put my phone away, then looked outside to see it was getting dark already. Time has gone away from me between eating pizza and writing out these ideas on paper and on our laptops.

"Do you have to leave?" Nora asked while she was typing on her laptop.

"No, it's only my husband," I replied with a bitter smile and stood up. "I'm going to use your bathroom."

"Sure, it's right down the hallway." Nora pointed, and I went that way.

On the right, I found her bathroom. I turned on the light and then shut the door with my hand.

"Why haven't you replied to my messages?" I jumped out of my skin and nearly screamed when Kai unexpectedly appeared in front of my nose, asking me this question! Just as quickly, he cupped his hand over my mouth.

"What are you doing here?" I pulled his hand away, asking him in a whisper.

Kai gave an innocent smile like he was doing no wrong. "Checking on you since you won't answer me."

"I'm busy," I snipped, whispering.

Suddenly, Kai's nose sniffed the air. "Who's your new friend?" he asked, passing me to reach the door. "Are there any guys in the room with you?"

"There aren't any guys, so don't you dare try anything!" I warned and tugged his firm tricep. "Your Aunt paired us up with partners, and your dad doesn't allow you to hunt anyone attending the campus!" I said sternly as I could be, pulling him away from reaching the doorknob, and stopping him from likely eating Nora. Kai chuckled amused.

"Would you be quiet, so Nora doesn't hear you!" I admonished him, but he gave me an adoring smile. Ugh! Now he was getting annoying like Rome!

Kai taunted like this was a joke. "Did Aunt Nasberry tell you to say that?"

I rolled my eyes. "Would you get out!"

Steady knocking tapped on the bathroom door, which startled me white. As Kai's nose flared and his eyes shone red with thirst.

"Is everything alright?" Nora asked from the opposite side. "I heard a commotion?"

"Oh, I tripped on the rug!" I replied awkwardly while I was attempting to push Kai into the shower, which of course, made more noise because he made things more difficult for me and refused to budge his sturdy feet.

"Oh, I've done that," Nora giggled while I put up a struggle with Kai to keep him back.

"Perhaps you should introduce me," Kai teased while he pushed against my palms to avoid the shower.

"Would you just leave!" I spat a little too loudly.

Nora replied, thinking I was speaking to her. "Oh, I didn't mean to bother you."

"Not you Nora, I was talking to my husband over the phone," I lied, glaring at Kai while he was doing everything in his power not to crack up laughing. Even his complexion was turning cherry red from holding his laughter. Mr. Grumpy has suddenly developed a sense of humor at the worst possible timing!

"Oh, I'm sorry," Nova replied, sounding embarrassed. "I didn't know you were on the phone. I guess that explains why I heard a man's voice."

"Umm, if only that was true," Kai responded sufficiently loud, and my eyes gaped when he teasingly winked at me.

"What's that?" Nora asked, seemingly confused.

"UHM!" I clear my throat and fake cough. "I-I w-was clearing my throat. I'll be out in a second."

"Ok," she giggled awkwardly, then left.

"Would you please leave because I have to pee," I glowered, but he smirked at me.

"Then pee." He grinned childishly. "I won't stop you."

My eyes shut, so annoyed right now. "Just let me pee, and I'll wrap it up with Nora," I glared, staring at him again.

Kai smirked defiantly, "I'll be waiting for you at our car."

Like a ghost, he vanished before my sight. For a second, I looked around and sigh relieved to know he left. I finished using the bathroom and sat with Nora on the floor.

"Are you ok?" Nora asked. "You look a little pale."

I sighed, feeling slightly sick. "It's nothing." This sickness always comes out of nowhere.

"Are you sure?" she asked, sounding concerned.

"I'm only pregnant," I sigh without fully comprehending that I willingly announced it.

Nora raved, "That's so exciting!"

"Thank you, let's wrap up tonight cause I need to get home before it gets worse," I said, smiling weaker.

"Not a problem," Nora smiled.

We organized more ideas and posted a few notes in our notebooks. Then I gathered my things and left to find Kai by the car.

"Can you drive?" I asked, feeling sick.

"Yeah, I can drive us home," Kai gently replied and helped me put my stuff in the back seat. I could tell by his face he knew I was feeling sick.

Shortly, we made it back home, and I ran to the bathroom and puked.

"Do you need some medicine?"

Kai came in asking, and he looked so worried.

"My medicine for nauseousness is in my closet that Dr. Riley gave me," I directed, and on the pronto, Kai was gone and came back just as fast. He gave me my meds for nausea. I took one, but then minutes later, I puked again.

"Can I get a blanket and pillow?" I weakly asked. "I can't move from the bathroom."

Kai frowned, seemingly helpless. He quickly got what I wanted and sat with me on the floor. He cradled me in his arms, and I laid down with a pillow on his lap. Very gently, he played with my hair and tried soothing me by rubbing my belly from underneath the blanket.
