The fourth week of August came all too instantaneous. Still, Ian and Lily couldn't trace their dads' whereabouts. College courses started for them. Conveniently enough, Lily was attending a college that's nearby the one from Ian's.

So she decided to move from her dorm to stay with Ian because she didn't wanna be alone. As a matter of fact, she hated being away from Ian, and that befuddled her as to why. Unfortunately they both skipped classes because that hunger was getting to their heads. Anytime a human would bypass them, their instincts would scream, "FEED!" like starved craving sharks. The animals they were feeding on weren't cutting it anymore. Without much of a choice, Lily and Ian abrogated their dreams to attend college and get a decent career.

"Ian, I feel we need to hunt," Lily feebly voiced, laying next to him on the couch.

Ian nodded. "Let's head to the park and walk the hiking trails."

Having a weak smile, Lily approved of that.

Ian saw her lips were chapped. Then her oval red eyes were diminished and droopy. Even her flesh was pale, and a part of her forearm was discoloring into a yellowish-brown pigment. He wasn't entirely sure what any of this meant, but he witnessed Lily getting weaker by the day.

Ian's throat may have felt dryer, but his skin wasn't discoloring like Lily's. Nor were his lips chapping. The only explanation he could gather was what those older vampires said. Vampiresses were weaker compared to vampires, so perhaps that's why Lily was looking paler by the day, he speculated.

Being supportive, he took her hand and walked out of the dorm with her. Together they got in his car, and then he drove to the nearest park. At the park, he parked the car by the trails, and they got out and started hiking.

Along the way, Lily's bones crunched and snapped. Fur overlapped her skin while her clothes and the human body were tucked inside the wolf's body. In the form of a beautiful white-gray wolf, Lily trots aside from Ian. She pinned her pointy wolf ears higher, sniffing the air before taking her snout to the ground.

Ian watched her on and off until this delicious-smelling fragrance traveled to his nostrils. Lily faintly growls, catching the scent. Being stealthy in an untrained technique like they were kids playing hide and seek. They slick themselves through the rooted trees from off the trails.

Music from the distance resonated toward them. So they duck behind this decent size tree trunk that had some fairly large roots sticking above the ground. There they waited for what was approaching on this pathway.

Within minutes this woman in her late thirties came jogging on the trails. She was zoned out to her earbuds, listening to her favorite tunes. Unaware, the closer she jogged, the closer she was to her doom.

Ian's sight hungered for a bite. He could see that pulse pumping blood into her neck. The jogger's heartbeat was enough to plague his mind as if diseased.

"Feed!" those instincts screamed in his head.

The jogging lady was nearing, so Lily lowered her body to a pouncing position. She looked more like a hungry feline rather than a wolf. But Ian didn't dare insult the wolf form that she is.

Instead, he took his stance and counted three with his fingers. On signal, Lily leaped out from the tree, and so did Ian. They cut the jogger's pathway.

She skids on her treads and screams to see a wolf and a boy that has red glowing eyes. Without playing around, she turns those hiker heels and runs as fast as she can, trying to get away from that demonic boy and his pet.

"Help!" she cried.

At first, Ian and Lily froze on what to do. Until Lily was the first one to chase that jogger on the trail. Ian watched as Lily leaped over this hump on the uneven pathway and kept going from there. Fastly, Ian bounced from where he was to the front of that jogger's direction.

The jogger halted to see Ian right there. Then behind her, his pet wolf appeared with sharp sparkling white canines.

"Please, kid, let me pass?" she pleaded, and Ian's heart ripped into tiny pieces of paper.

Being human-raised, he didn't have it in him to do what needed to be done. He looked at Lily who was whimpering like she read his emotions. Now the heartless deed is delivered to her to do.

Right in front of the jogger and Ian. Lily shaped back into a human. Her breathtaking red gaze looked at the jogger with sympathy. She may have been starving, but she too, couldn't do it.

"Oh, my!" said the jogger, compressing her temples with her palms. "I'm losing my mind."

"Please, forget that you ever saw us!" Lily said pleadingly.

The jogger heard her, but she was drowning from fright to comprehend anything Lily said. She started to hyperventilate from having a panic attack.

"I can't breathe!" she gasped for air, dramatically waving her hands to her face like a fan. Her sweaty chest heaved up and down rapidly.

Was she having a stroke? Ian inwardly pondered and stared at her helplessly. There wasn't anything he could think of to do. He didn't know how to help this older girl. Maybe she needed a hug?

Ian parted his mouth to speak, but he was rendered speechless, because this huge brown bear hustled from behind the jogger. Before the jogger knew what hit her, the bear's narrow jaws crunched into her neck. Blood splattered like a sprinkler, and her head was slashed off and rolled in Lily's direction. The eyes and mouth of the woman's head hung loosely toward Lily.

Quite disturbed, Lily held her mouth from screaming. She tipped toed away from the woman's head. Yet that frozen terror was still expressed on the jogger's face as she stared at Lily.

Both she and Ian gaped shockingly and stayed motionlessly at the bear. The bear dropped the headless body, then they both heard bones breaking and cracking. Unfolding from the bear came a black shirt, dark jean shorts, shoes, and a fully grown-built body of a man. Only he was far from being a man. This very tall, fitted vampire cocked his head at the two juveniles.

"Didn't your fathers teach you not to play with your food?" the vampire barked at them, standing there as if they should know better.

"Uhh," was all Ian could mumble after what he had witnessed.

The vampire smirked. "So you two are the ones that have been hunting animals in these woods."
