*Ch 270: Come Home

Deep within a forest, on that same night, a windy shrill noise came through. Savannah and several vampiresses land in this old drive, leading to this rundown abandoned mansion.

"Back already?" the same steamy vampire that never wears a shirt asked them.

"We got bored," Savannah replied as her heels clacked up the drive before she vanished into an apparition.

She took herself to Rex's private room. Like usual, she found him in the master chair, where he was angled at the fireplace. A whiskey glass filled with fresh blood was in his right hand, which was resting on the arm of the chair. Though his dark gaze was fogged on the sizzling flame, he knew by the aroma of this captivating perfume that Savannah had come in unannounced.

After taking off her fur coat, she strode over, and welcomed herself a seat on his lap. Still, his eyes didn't shift from the dancing flames.

Savannah combed her long fingernails along his brown short hair. "They're back from the ball," she notified him.

Now, Rex only veered his eyes her way to hear the news. Then his neck moved only enough to give her his undivided gaze.

"What's the next move?" Savannah asked while she bats her lashes twice to further flatter him to her enchantment.

Rex lifted the whiskey glass to his lips. "I think it's time to remind Victoria I'm still around." He said before he finished the glass in one swig.

"I'm sure she remembers," Savannah stated once Rex set the empty glass on the stand.

Then he held Savannah's chin while his other hand groped up her kneecap from underneath her bright red dress.

"She'll truly remember once I take the next life, right before her eyes," Rex responded with an evil glint, crossing his gaze.

Just by how he looked, Savannah attracted forward and kissed him as his hand wandered up the dress slit on her leg. Her mouth opened for the invite, so his tongue flicked in. She moaned as her face slanted to adjust to his feisty flow. Audible panting breathed through their nostrils as the steam between them got even hotter. Savannah rubbed her palms up and down on his black shirt. Rex goes to lift her to straddle his lap, but then luminous rays penetrate through the raggedy curtains from the panel window.

He removed his lips then he made her get up. From this room, he darted to the courtyard. Savannah and many others joined him. Violent wind thrashed like a storm was brewing. A circular swirling light was growing larger in mass. Soon ten tall figures came out, wearing trench coats over their formal dark clothes.

The swirling wind whistled as one of the tall figures closed the vortex. Afterward, the travelers faced Rex with these unreadable poker faces.

"Brother!" Rex greeted. "What brings you here?"

"Our parents wish for you to come home," Rex's older brother replied. "Our coven has been missing everyone."

"I won't be returning," Rex deemed. "I have unfinished business here."

Suddenly his elder brother's eyes hollowed darkly grim as he spoke. "By that, you mean you found another beauty to obsess about. Like the others in your sick twisted games, you'll torment her to no end. Then you'll murder her like the rest."

"This one's different," Rex claimed, giving a cunning grin.

His brother seethed his churlish annoyance while speaking, "Yes, we've heard this one is the last foreseen prophecy. Her mate is an alpha, and she bears his offspring."

"How did you know?" Rex cocked his head, asking.

"This hasn't been my first visit," his brother retorted, acting surly.

"I should've known the Coven would have you spy on me," Rex snickered lowly, then he stepped forward a little.

"As I stated, everyone wishes you back home," said his brother. "Whichever outcome transpires after the vote, this planet is doomed for war. You'll all be in the middle of that battle."

"Yes, I'm aware," Rex replied.

His brother exclaimed sternly, "Then you should comprehend that Victoria isn't welcome to our planet even if she gets her votes. She's still deemed a threat in our world."

"Then I won't be coming back until I've had my fill with her," Rex carelessly exclaimed when his eyes narrowed at his elder brother.

His brother sighed. "If that's the case, I am taking anyone who wishes to come home with me."

"Of course," Rex announced. "Anyone is welcome to return home."

Everyone looked around as a handful of single vampiresses were the first to step forward. Next, a few groups of families crossed the line to stand with Rex's older brother. Then a handful of vampires that had human mates ranging from young to old, head over too.

Suspense was drawn in the air. Several defenseless mothers mentally begged their mates to leave. One particular vampiress who adopted the same newborn Rex's advisor with the ice gift was going to eat after killing his mother in the woods during their game. Mentally, she implored her mate to go as well. She held her earth-born son close to her chest. Although he wasn't a newborn but still a small baby, resting his head contently on his new mother's chest. Since that unfaithful day that he lost his human mother, his vampiress mom hasn't once left him out of her sight. She knew better than to trust the vampires in her clan.

"The rest of you should consider allowing your mates and offspring to leave, especially if they're human." Rex's brother advised.

Finally, one more vampire stepped forward. He held his arm to his mate, holding their adopted human earth son. That same vampiress was so relieved that her mate gave in. Across the line, she faced her friends, whose mates were too stubborn to leave. The rest of the worried mothers had no choice but to stay behind because their mates made that selfish decision.

"Savannah, you have free will to choose. You should come home," Rex's brother exhorted. "You have a rare gift that protects our Coven."

"My loyalty is with Rex," Savannah refused. "If I leave, then Rex and everyone else here is exposed to threats."

Rex's brother furrowed his eyebrows in disappointment at her and the rest of the vampires willing to risk their mates and offspring. He gave them another minute, yet none moved an inch.

"If anything happens to the vampiresses, human children, and young ones, their blood is on your hands," his brother warned.

"Nothing will happen to them," Rex vowed.

His brother snorts in disbelief. Then he opened the gateway for home. Once again, the wind picked up as everyone left. The last to leave was his brother. Once he walked through, he shut the portal on the other side.

On Rex's side, the darkness returned, and the wind came to a peace. He grinned to see he still had more than enough muscle on his side to follow forth with his diabolical plan with Victoria, especially since he still had Savannah to hide their scent from Kai.
