**Ch 345: Destined Mate

"He's engaged to Emily Mill!" I exclaimed as they still shared an intimate kiss, and Kai said nothing to me.

"I've missed you so much," Emily whispered against his lips.

"There wasn't a day that I didn't think about you," Gaston uttered an obvious lie as he tickled his nose on hers.

"Did you hear the exciting news about us getting married!" Emily raved in excitement when she asked him.

"I heard, and I can't wait," Gaston responded with a smile behind his lie, and you could tell his eyes weren't thrilled, yet, Emily radiated with love. She was jubilant, but Mr. Collin didn't share the same feelings in his heart as her.

"Cough!" Aaron purposely coughed as if he had something stuck in his throat before they both looked over at him. He knew Mr. Collin felt flustered with his rued emotions about marrying her.

Unaware of it, Emily giggled at Aaron. "It's nice to see you have returned safely too," she greeted him before a frown formed on her lips. "Have you seen your sister, Morticia?"

Now I knew they were talking about Kai's mother, plus, Aaron was her older brother.

"Not yet, but I heard the news," Aaron informed her as he expressed his sadness.

"What happened to her?" Gaston questioned as I was wondering that myself.

"Her marriage with Griffin Nasberry didn't go as planned," Emily presented a grim frown while I recognized the Nasberry Coven name.

"Why not? I thought he loved Morticia?" Gaston dug around for answers.

"He found out that my sister Iris is his destined mate over my sister Morticia," Aaron announced, and I was rather shocked like Mr. Collin.

"Mrs. Nasberry married the vampire your mother was engaged to! Wait, how old were they when this happened?" I uttered aloud when I asked.

Kai replied. "My mother is twenty-six right now. Aunt Nasberry is twenty-seven."

"Talk about some family drama!" Gaston remarked.

"Luckily, my sisters get along, so there isn't too much drama," Aaron proclaimed as a group of vampiresses arrived up ahead.

Mrs. Collin was walking between her older and younger sisters, along with her friends. Despite the heartache she was enduring, she did the best she could to be strong about the situation. As usual, she looked lovely in her drapery style pink flowy gown.

Just as my attention drew back to Kai's dad, I noticed right away something wasn't right with him because his eyes were glossy. From a second ago, he was fine, but now looking at him, his body stood stiff, and it seemed as though he had stopped breathing altogether. Beads of moisture trickled down his temples as he was sweating. I followed his eyes, and I gathered he was zoned out on Morticia, his actual future wife-to-be.

"He just discovered that your mom is his destined mate!" I affirmed, loudly energetic.

"At this precise moment, he did," Kai confirmed.

"Mr. Collin is the one who betrayed the Mill Coven because he didn't marry Emily, but why would this make them become enemies?" I questioned since it didn't make sense.

"It's worse than that," Kai claimed. "Watch, and you'll know. As of right now, my dad should have told Vlad. Maybe it would have avoided the chaos that came next."

"I'm going to see my mother," Gaston told Emily.

"I'll come with–"

Emily was speaking until Gaston cut in. "I want to spend some quality time with her alone. It's been a while since I had that with her."

"I understand. I'll see you in a few." Emily smiled as she went to kiss his lips, but this time, Gaston turned in the opposite direction from Aaron's sisters, which left Emily with a dumbfounded expression as to why he didn't kiss her. She peeked at Aaron for answers to Gaston's odd behavior, but all he did was itch his neck before he walked ahead to greet his sisters and their friends.

"Follow my dad." Kai guided me, so I did, and I got curious about what he was doing when he swerved into a room that had several columns throughout it. When he hid behind one, I realized he lied to Emily about seeing his mother.

"He picked up a bad habit of lying to Emily," I stated as I saw everyone walking past this room.

"Are you sure you don't want to talk about it?" Aaron hugged his younger sister as Gaston spied in unseen.

"I just need some time alone," Morticia replied as she wiped her teary eyes dry.

After she verified that she wanted to be alone, Mrs. Collin came into this room and wandered around the columns until she disappeared down an enclosed curved stone staircase.

Mr. Collin and I were speedy to follow her trail. It's like he knew her patterns from growing up with her. Therefore, he knew where she was going beforehand. Just as I suspected, he found her in a watery indoor spa pool. From the edge of the stone steps that led into the water was where she rolled up her lace fabric dress to her knees, then she dipped her feet in as she gazed at the indoor waterfall that flooded out from the smooth round rocks in front of her. As she wiped another teardrop from her eyes, she took a seat, and stared at the breathtaking scenery.

Off from the side, Gaston picked a strange yet beautiful wild rose from a vine bush that was spouting from the floor, which grew into a web of vines that had these blossomed roses on them that stretched up the stone wall next to the doorless entry. Right when he was taking soft steps to approach her, he backed away and flew up the staircase like a scared chicken.

"Why did he leave?" I outwardly wondered.

"Stay with my mom. My dad is facing the intensity of finding out he has a destined mate." Kai elucidated.

"This might be why he didn't tell his dad," I mentioned since it was plausible.

"Likely, it is," Kai agreed. "We get bombed with emotions, and we don't want to talk about it with anybody else."

I nodded to understand.

An hour may have passed by as I paced everywhere bored. The whole time, his mother would sob, and then she'd stop while I wished I could've comforted her. A shadow came from the stairwell, and finally, Mr. Collin appeared again, and the rose he plucked was still in his hand.

"Morticia," he gently addressed, but she flinched before peering behind her.

"Gaston, I didn't hear you come in." Morticia blushed as she dabbed her tears away with her fingertips.

"I'm sorry to startle you, but do you mind if I join you?" Gaston delicately asked her, and she faintly smiled.
