The Dragon Slayer

[You have killed a Forest Panther.]

"This class is really overpowered…" Enzo muttered.

Most players wouldn't know about the weak points of the monsters, making it much harder for them to kill. Even with a strike to the brain or heart, a monster wouldn't always get killed instantly.

This was a very confusing mechanism of the game as it was somewhat realistic in a lot of other aspects, like the gore. The amount of blood and guts Enzo had seen so far while playing this game is a lot more than what most non hunters or farmers would see in the real world.

Enzo took out his katana and stabbed it into the panther's corpse to allow it to drink the blood of the beast. This was his first kill without the sword since he obtained it, so he had to do this instead of just letting it drink the blood as he damaged whatever enemy he was fighting.

Enzo then looted the panther and got 5 silvers from it.

"That's it?" He mumbled.

Usually the game would give him skins, bones, and/or claws as well.

After a few seconds Enzo just shrugged his shoulders and ignored it.

Enzo went over to the lake and crouched down to drink some water from it. It had been an hour or so since he last had a drink, so that fight made him thirsty.

'Huh?'

While crouched down, Enzo saw something that piqued his curiosity.

He started taking off all of his clothes, even his underwear, and put them into his inventory.

"I really need to get some armor." He mumbled as he looked at his dirty and ripped brown tunic and pants. There was also the problem of him getting attacked.

The bite of the panther not only took a lot of his health, but also hurt like hell. Enzo looked down at his shoulder and saw his raw flesh and blood still leaking out.

"Sigh. This is going to hurt…"

He jumped into the water in a near perfect dive and started swimming towards what he saw in the cliff face.

'Son of a bitch this thing hurts.'

His still open wound stung with every movement and just because he was in the water.

Enzo ignored it as best as he could and kept swimming.

In just a minute or two he reached his destination even though the lake was relatively large, because his boosted stats allowed him to swim much faster than usual.

Enzo resurfaced and parted the vines that were hanging into the water.

What he saw confirmed his suspicions.

There was an opening in the cliff that led into a cave. The vines were doing a good job of covering the opening, but Enzo saw a black void in the otherwise light brown rocks of the cliff so he became suspicious.

Enzo kept the vines moved out of the way as he swam through them and into the cave opening.

It was a large opening that led onto solid ground after he swam for a few more feet.

Enzo waded out of the water as it got more shallow and once he reached land again he took his clothes and weapons out of his inventory and put them back on.

The reason why he took them off before swimming is because not only is it dangerous to swim fully clothed and with shoes on, but because it's also not smart to make your body and clothes cold.

If you are going into cold water, you should keep your clothes dry because when they are wet they will make you feel colder and for much longer.

The cave wasn't very large and didn't have anything lighting the way, but Enzo could see a door in the rock wall ahead of him.

"Sigh. If a random door in a cave isn't the epitome of ominous and dangerous, then I don't know what is…" He mumbled.

Enzo knew a door in a place like this is usually a large flag, but he decided to just ignore it and take the risk for now.

Of course there is the risk of great danger, but with great risk there is the potential for great rewards.

There is no guarantee he would get something good, but he would never forgive himself if he one day found out another player found something extremely special in this very same cave.

Enzo moved towards the door and slowly opened it.

Once it was halfway open and he confirmed there were no monsters waiting on the other side, he opened it fully and stepped into the next room.

Luckily, this room did have light so Enzo was able to see his surroundings perfectly.

The room looked like a vestibule that connected to a house. There was something that looked very similar to a lightbulb on the ceiling, but Enzo could tell it was not. There were hooks on the walls that looked like they were for coats and jackets, but nothing hung on them.

Enzo kept moving and opened the next door, this time with much less caution.

Ding!

[You have entered the house of the Dragon Slayer]

Enzo read the message a few times with more and more fear each time. However, he was already through the door and into the next room by this point.

Enzo raised his head and looked around the room.

Similarly to the last, it was lit by a lightbulb-like object. The walls were made of smooth stone instead of the rough rock of the cave and the vestibule walls.

The system message called it a house, but it was more accurate to call this a room.

There was a large bed sitting in one corner, a fireplace near it, a kitchen area in another corner, and a living room area in front of the fireplace.

There were also a few bookshelves on the walls that were full of books and dust.

"Phew."

Enzo let out a breath of relief as he noticed there was no one else in the room. He was afraid for a second that he accidently intruded in the house of someone very powerful.

Well, he still is intruding, but luckily the person isn't here…
