Chapter 2

Chapter 2

Robert walked home slowly. There was so much to consider

and he still hadn't recovered from his initial experience with

the old man. That night, Robert dreamed continuously. His

awareness in each dream was very concise. In fact, he was aware

that he was dreaming and was able to do anything he wanted to

do in each dream that appeared.

Robert awoke that morning, feeling fully rested. He ate

breakfast and gathered his books as usual, heading out for

school. A few blocks from home, he made a detour and walked

toward the nursing home.

Samuel was there when he arrived. He was sitting in his

usual spot with a smile of trust and complacency. Robert

climbed the steps with earnest and sat in a chair facing

Samuel. Robert reached out his hand and they shook. There was

no special feeling just warmth and trust. "Tell me, Samuel,

where does a man like you fit into a world like this?"

"I don't. I and my wife live apart from this world in a

world of our own making. You see, there are many doors to my

mind. Whichever door I enter becomes a part of me and in this

awareness, I can share with my wife as I have shared with you.

Do you understand the limits of reality? We are what we seem

Power Mind-Reis pg. 9

to be. When you reach beyond reality, the unreal becomes your new reality and this opens up new passages where before there were only unthinkable questions. You will become a genius, Robert. You will have total recall and photographic memory,

the works. You will understand science to any degree you desire. You

will have only to choose the subject and your mind will deliver."

"Why did you choose me as your successor?"

"You were the first to come near me with the qualities I desire. You are innocent and youthful; It was fortunate that

you passed by here yesterday. I would have hated to have chosen just anyone. You see, these abilities I offer give one the power to become

a massive leader or changer of the world. The wrong person could have created havoc upon civilization. I trust

you, Robert. I was little influence on the world in my time.

I would sometimes help those I came in contact with but I never contributed to the world as a whole. When you achieve the power of the mind, you will understand why."

"You are answering my questions before I get a chance to

ask. "

"Yes. You have had several questions running through your mind.

I'm just choosing the ones that seem appropriate."

Robert smiled but he was a little embarrassed knowing all

of the personal feelings he now had toward Samuel and was unable to

conceal. Samuel patted him on the shoulder and said: "Don't worry

Robert. I can choose what my mind receives and I seldom

linger into the personal zone~ Samuel scanned the area around him. He

did not want to be bothered. There was no one around. Samuel had

already convinced the nurses that they did not need to see him today.

"Take my hand, Robert." Robert took his hand eagerly. "Now close your

eyes and follow me into a distant land and see what I see. Do you see

the mountain?"

"Yes."

"This mountain has no name but it is near a town called Bustamante in Mexico. The villagers believe the mountain to be haunted and they have good reason. Years ago, I designed

a robot with my advanced knowledge of science. I gave the robot the power to instill fear upon anyone who journeys near the mountain at night. The robot operates on an antigravity device and floats through the air. During the day, it stays and guards within a cave inside the mountain. You must approach the mountain by night so that you may contend with the robot. The robot will instill immense fear upon you, but you must stand your ground as it approaches. When it is there before you, say the words, cease and desist. Then follow the robot to the base

of the mountain where you will find your safest attempt to climb.

Begin your ascent at daybreak. It will be an arduous climb,

so be very careful. At the top, you will find a cave opening. Enter and begin your descent deep within the cave. Again, you must be very careful for the path can be perilous. When you

have reached the deepest part of the cave, you will find a:

room. Enter and look for a large pile of rocks next to the wall,

Remove this pile to find a hidden passage and enter the room

of flowers. Just look at all the beautiful flowers on the walls."

"Were they painted by someone?"

"No, they were formed there somehow by nature." "Is this where I

will achieve the power?"

"No, there is one last room. There was an opening to it from here

but one of our ascendants replaced it with a secret door."

"You mean there were others like us?"

"We are an ancient breed. The man who passed on his powers to me

was an Indian who roamed throughout Mexico."

"Did he have a wife?"

"Yes, but she disappeared when he was young. He said that she

called him for a while, and then there was nothing. He never saw her

again."

"There seems to be an attraction to yours and his wife.

Is there?"

"Basically, they are always radiantly beautiful, but there

is a possibility that we are not invisible to everyone?" Robert's grip grew tighter. He opened his eyes and looked around. Seeing no one, he faced Samuel, noticing a slight contortion on his

left cheek while his eyes were closed even tighter. Robert

closed his eyes again and rejoined his partner. Both of them

were still there in the room of flowers. Samuel took a deep breath and began: "You will feel along the wall at this point until you reach a hairline crack. Then feel for the crack on

the right side. It is here where you will apply pressure. First on the

right, then on the left. Back and forth as the door slowly slides

outward. When the door has opened within an inch, you

may remove it. And now we enter into the room of dreams. In

the center of the room, we see the pool of diamonds. The diamonds beneath the water are actually quartzite. The treasure of this room is that single pool of water. It has been sitting there

for millions of years and only visited once in a lifetime. You will drink from this pool. One swallow is all you will need.

I cannot tell you why this sacred pool of water is so special. The knowledge of its secrets goes beyond the deepest infinity I have ever attempted to reach."

"What happens when I drink the water?"

"You will sleep for a few days and when you awake you will

be lost in ecstasy, traveling the passages of your mind and becoming acquainted with your new self. You will need a full weeks' supply of food and water." They released hands and opened their eyes. Robert thought for a moment and then looked at Samuel and said: "When does this journey begin?"

"Today." Robert was instantly surprised. Samuel reached

into his pocket and pulled out a roll of money. "Here is five thousand

dollars. Go and rent a car and begin your journey south. You will find

Bustamante on a map and you have seen where the mountain lies from

there."

"But what will I tell my grandparents?"

"Tell them the truth. Tell them you are going to be gone

Power Mind-Reis pg. 13

for a week. Tell them it's a personal matter and you'd rather not talk about it. When they object, listen intently and then go to your room. Have the car already rented and waiting down the street. Any more questions?"

"No. It just seems all of the sudden. It was just a dream before

but now it's become an impact!"

"That's what I'm here for. Give me your hand. Until you reach your

own power, I'm going to give you the best part of mine. Close your

eyes and let your feelings flow. First I will give you courage. Do you

feel it?"

"Yes. It makes me feel stronger than I've ever felt." "Next, I

will give you fearlessness."

"Wow, I fear no one. Maybe this is too much."

"Don't worry. you will become accustomed. And finally, I will give

you spirit. Depend on it every so lightly and only when you really need it. It can alter your emotions." They released hands and Robert took a couple of deep breaths. Robert stared at Samuel in awe. "You actually feel this way all the

time?"

"Only when I desire."

"I feel like nothing can stop me from reaching the room of dreams.

With all this courage and fearlessness and spirit. I feel like I can

do anything! I want to help you and Linda. You are truly my brother."

Robert stood up and put his arms around Samuel. There was a tear in

Samuel's eye. Robert sat down again and spoke: "You and I both know

there is no time

Power Mind-Reis pg. 14

to lose. Is there anything else I must know?"

"I have given you all you need. Go and make good time. Go safely,

my son." Robert got up and shook Samuel's hand once again.

Samuel watched him go, noticing how a boy had become a man.

Samuel clasped his hands and lowered his head into his own quiet

meditation. "Yes, I hear you Linda."

Robert prepared his departure well. His grandparents were confused by his remarks, but by sundown, he was on his way south.
