Chapter 10
Robert got up the next day and began surveying what he had.
He browsed through the computer manual just enough to know and understand the entire operation of the computer. He then walked
out to the hanger and climbed into the jet. He was impressed,
even though it was an outdated model. Being a photo-reconnaissance jet, it was capable of high altitude flight. Robert climbed out
of the jet and entered the workshop. There were boxes of supplies scattered throughout, with many sorts of tools hanging along
the walls above the bench along the walls. There was a high
powered laser, a drill press, two DC generators and a wide range
of welding equipment. There were two microscopes he intended
to use for computer chip alteration. There was also other equipment he purchased to use in this sort of technology. Robert had a wide range of the elements in solid, liquids and gaseous forms. Some
of them were kept in refrigerator near the .door along with two- cases of soda pop.
Robert's first concern was security. He decided to build
three robots in the fashion of Samuel's robot. He began with
the power source, which would be a subtle form of nuclear power.
He first took a small glass Mason jar and burned a small hole
in the lid using his laser. He then took a copper plate and placed
a small drop of mercury upon it. Next, he connected one of the
DC converters to the copper plate, which was lying on the counter. ..
He then took a long iron rod and wrapped a thick copper wire
around it from top to bottom and connected the two ends of the

copper wire to the other DC converter, thus having the use of a powerful electromagnet. Robert turned on the electromagnet to high intensity and touched the end of the rod to the copper plate for ten minutes until the plate and the mercury were fully magnetized. With the electromagnet still magnetizing the plate and mercury, Robert hit the switch on the other DC converter and sent a DC current of 1000 volts into the plate and mercury. Robert turned the switch off as quickly as he turned it on. Any longer would have caused the mercury to switch from
a liquid to a gas. Robert shut off the other converter and stared at his creation. He had produced an electrically charged element. But this one was special. The mercury atoms would now be displacing electrons and capable of igniting certain elements. Robert placed the mercury inside the mason jar, closing the lid and sealing around it with a special compound. He then went to the refrigerator and removed two flasks. One was vanadium and
the other was xenon. Two gaseous elements. He attached a gage
and an adapter to each bottle and placed the adapter of each bottle into the small hole of the mason jar, allowing only a small amount of each gas into the jar. Robert sealed the hold temporarily until he retrieved an insulated copper wire, which
he placed in the hole and then sealed it permanently. This was
his new power source. The out casting electrons of the electrically charged mercury would ignite the gaseous compound, but there
would be no energy displaced until there was a voltage draw on
the copper wire within. There would be no AC or DC from the copper

wire. The energy displaced would be a pulsating voltage with
no amperage. Therefore, an extremely large amount of energy
could be transferred along that slim wire. Since the energy produced is not received, only one wire is necessary in the transfer of current. Robert would need to build four more of these power sources. The maximum life of each would range between one and two thousand years. It was time for brunch so Robert rambled toward the house, content with his first creation.
After brunch, Robert began his second creation. An antigravity device. It would be powered by the power source but would need a special construction. First, he took two magnets the shape of a disk and placed them, negative ends together and drilled a hole down the center of each placing a steel rod in
the center. He then placed this assembly inside one of the gyroscopes he had bought and welded it in place. This, mixed with intrinsic electronics would produce the balance and antigravity the robots
and the jet would need.
Robert welded together the internal framework for the three robots and began working with the electronics systematically.
He had no need to ponder as he worked. He knew exactly what he was doing and how to go about it. By nightfall, he had completed most of the first Robot. He was now working with his computer equipment to program the chip which would control all of the robot, including its priority commands. By 3:00 AM, the task
was done. The robot was floating in the air facing Robert and awaiting its orders. "You will take orders only from me. Is that

correct?"
"Affirmative"
"You will guard inside the lab during the day and at night you will prowl outside within one hundred feet of the lab. You are to avoid being seen by anyone else and if anyone approaches without me, you are to instill your fear upon them and you will increase that fear as they approach." Robert got up and opened the outside door, letting the robot out. The robot had electronic eyes but they were not lighted like Samuel's robot. Robert wanted to conceal them and he intended to get a black hood for each
of them.
A few days later, Robert had completed all three robots.
one guarded the house, inside and out and the other rode with Robert in his car, masked in the rear and programmed to sense danger and attack if necessary. Robert used one of the two remaining power sources and connected it to his household current by first connecting it to a transfer box he had built that would transfer pulsating current to AC current. He needed this setup
to insure that he didn't lose power to his computer and lose
any memory stored. His next priority was to program the AI.
Kristal was beginning to feel at home, especially with her constant companion. Kristal began meeting with the varying professionals and their questions became more and more intense. One day, she stood up and said: "Why do you want to know so much about this man I see. Are you going to take him to?" One of the psychologists answered.: "No darling, we just want to know more

about him, that's all."
"I don't believe you and don 't call me darling!"
"Listen to me child. We just want to keep you here for a little
while and then we will take you home. The more you do for us, the
sooner you can go home. Do you understand?"
"All I know is that you people are bad. I've told you all about
that man. What else do I have to do?"
"What we have been waiting for is for you to feel the presence of
a woman with this man. Do you understand?"
"You mean his wife?"
"Yes. When you feel her, we want you to describe her to us. Will
you do that much?" All eyes were on Krystal and she knew that she
could get into trouble if she said no. She said yes just to satisfy
them but secretly in some sort of vision she had, she hoped that maybe
this man she was feeling would come and chase all the bad people away.
She felt a strong sense of Kinship to the wonderful man she was
sensing.
Kathy was sitting at home now, dreaming about the short time she
had spent with her lover. She thought of the poem Robert had sent and
smiled.
Robert had given her so many feelings of love and she refused to
share them with anyone else. She was adapted for her patience and she
was still content to wait. At least she had her nightly dreams. They
were always about her and Robert indulging in that lifelong need of
someone to love.
