New Position

Pao Dai wasn't able to continue his thought when Chao's gaze suddenly landed on him.

A chilling feeling gripped Pao Dai's entire being. It intensified with that broad smile of his that seemed eerily similar to a smiling demon.

Chao calmly asked, "Captain Dai, did your recording ring get all of that? This will be important to show to become more alert about the Fang Family."

Pao Dai suddenly jumped up like a cat that got its tail stepped on. His mind was slightly chaotic.

Just what about the Fang Family?

What he had just showcased surpasses anything about the Fang Family!

Still, Pao Dai adjusted his act a moment later and nodded. "Yes...yes. When I sensed these auras were human, I silently activated the ring. Everything will get broadcasted out."

"Mn. Alright. One more thing." Chao surveyed the eerie surroundings with his same calm smile. "Would it be alright if we take these people's cosmos sacks? Of course, we can equally share with everyone here. I won't be stingy."

"That's...well, since nothing stopping us now, we can only help ourselves. Also, I believe these people will perhaps have spatial rings. At least, the leader would have one." Pao Dai agreed.

Without wasting any more time, Chao quickly looted every corpse there. He managed to gain 7 cosmos sacks and three spatial rings. All alone, this would be a hefty amount of resources.

However, Chao fathoms on his own that spreading a reasonable amount of resources will also increase loyalty. It shows that he's not overly domineering with his allies and would be willing to depend on him in the future for dangerous situations.

Luo, Dui, and Shi all appeared nervous about accepting rewards. Luo cautiously asked, "Is...should we really get anything? After all, it was only....Chao that did all of the work."

He nearly didn't know what to call Chao after that previous domination.

Thankfully for him, Chao didn't mind it at all. Chao also didn't mind the rewards, as he said, "Don't worry about it. We are all on the same team here."

After a short discussion, Luo, Dui, and Shi gained the cosmos sacks. Pao Dai gained a spatial ring. And Chao gained two spatial rings, one belonging to the 3rd layer leader.

Just this amount was enough to satisfy Chao. His soul sense could vaguely detect the rich energy exuding from these rings.

From a single battle, Chao could count himself as quite wealthy! Neither he nor Chen Li would have to worry about living expenses for a long while.

Pai Dao released a great sigh with his spatial ring. He shook his head and looked into the dark wilderness. "Alright, because of this matter, let's get back early. Captain Lee, the leading captain of everyone, will need to examine this news."

...

Pao Dai's squadron made it back to the city faster than ever. With Chao's prowess, no other Vicious beast could slow them down for even a split second.

The squadron directly went into the Ming Family courtyard and this time, into the right side building. Here was where the captains communicated with each other, planned out motives for attack, and coordinate with the higher-ups.

Today was a particularly slow day for everyone, so Pao Dai was able to request to meet with Captain Lee rather quickly.

Because Pao Dai had a higher status than them all, only he could go into Captain Lee's room at first.

Upon entering, Pao Dai didn't waste words and immediately showed Captain Lee the recording ring.

Several minutes passed on the outside.

Chao, who patiently waited with the others, was suddenly called in by Pao Dai.

After walking through a lengthy corridor, he was finally taken into Captain Lee's offices.

A strong-middle-aged man entered his vision.

This guy had a few faint battle scars on his face and overall had a rough appearance about him. Certainly not a person anyone would want to causally mess with.

But at this moment, the imposing-looking Captain Lee had an expression of absolute bewilderment. The gaze that settled on Chao didn't bother to conceal his awe and shock.

Chao acted neither servile nor arrogant as he calmly walked up. He nodded to Captain Lee and said, "Patrol guard Chao reporting to Captain Lee."

Captain Lee shook his head with a sigh. "No need for that. After all, your status is about to take a great leap. What you just had showcased, Chao needs no further discussion. I will directly cut to the chase and tell you that you have been directly prompted to Ming Soldier rank. Here is your new badge. And inside the spatial ring is your new uniform and dozens of low-grade Spirit energy crystals."

As Captain Lee spoke, he tossed over a new high-quality badge to Chao and a genuine spatial ring.

Chao felt a bit shocked as he held both the badge and the ring. He recalled the ranking order of the Ming Family and knows something strange had happened.

Chao still showed a look of appreciation, but his tone was slightly curious as he asked, "This is truly wonderful. But...if I recall, right, the Ming Family soldier is above regular guard rank, right? Was I really able to skip over an entire rank, just like that?"

"It's only natural you should, don't you think?" Captain Lee calmly nodded. "Just being able to easily beat anyone in your same layer alone showcases a great amount of talent that far surpasses anyone ordinary. You could have quickly reached regular guard with just that aspect alone. But, being able to not only crush a peak 3rd layer but also kill off all his associates within only seconds? Tell me, Chao, how much do you know about the Tiers of geniuses?"

All that Chao read from that one cultivation book rushed to his mind. He already knew a considerable, perhaps even more than Captain Lee in some aspects.

But not wanting to do anything troublesome, Chao showed a pondering expression before saying, "I think I read snippets about in some old books. From what I can recall, Tier geniuses are extremely special people who perform extraordinary feats with their cultivation. Such as me being able to wipe out that whole Fang Family squadron."

The light within Captain Lee's eyes shined brightly. "Indeed. Your high combat prowess goes off the foundation of your great Spiritual Sea perception abilities. And this isn't only about your combat prowess. Your cultivation speed, comprehension of arts, and overall learning abilities are several times higher than even a regular genius who is only powerful in the same minor layer. To be frank with you, talents like yours are known as Spirit Tier geniuses. And talents like yours are greatly sought out by any and all organizations. Places like the Tiger Martial Academy or any one of the Big Three would gladly welcome you in with welcome arms and a broad smile if you were to take their entrance exams. But..."

At this point, Captain Lee's lips curled into a slight smirk. "I can tell it just from your eyes, your actions, and overall bearing. A youth like yourself hates to be chained down or force to follow rules. Even though larger sects and academies can afford to set up simulations in which they train their disciples in combat and to kill but that truly can't compare to real life. You kill without any hesitation and with a simple, calm smile. An environment where you have free rein and with enemies around the corner suits you the best, no?"

The more Captain Lee spoke, the better impression Chao made of him. There really wasn't anything wrong with what he said. This kind of freedom and bloodshed was the exact reason he joined the Ming Family.

His determination increased even more after learning more about the aspects of the Asura Conqueror's system.

A recurring thought suddenly streaked into Chao's mind again. The Ming Family truly would be a worthwhile place to wholly conquer. If there were more straightforward people like Captain Lee, gaining their loyalty wouldn't be anything overly complicated.

Furthermore, Chao could similarly tell that Captain Lee is a determined cultivator who wants to further his path.

Thus Chao nodded and spoke with a tone full of confidence. "All of that is indeed true. Since I have such high expectations placed upon me, I can only go beyond that. But I still have one more question, Captain Lee. With this new position, would I need to lead another squadron of patrol guards?"

Captain Lee shook his head. "I can tell your personality is better suited for lone patrols. Don't worry, unless you specifically request it, you can stay all on your own. In your spatial ring is your new schedule and route. In the morning, and when your patrol is finished, you simply have to clock in your badge at the main lobby to receive your payment for the day. You clock in with the Crystal Orb at the check-in desk. If you have no further questions, then this is the end of our meeting."

"That's pretty much it. I will be sure to continue my work perfectly, Captain Lee." With this, Chao promptly walked out of the day in his same calm stride.

A new position has finally been obtained but Chao would never let his emotions take control of him unless needed.
