Chapter 18: The Talk

I’d never invited anyone to my apartment before. Not even Zinnia. It was safer for everyone involved if they didn’t know where I lived. Loki, well, he could take care of himself. He’d already proven he was willing to protect me, whether I wanted it or not.

“This is where you live?” Loki sneered, looking around the small apartment.

“This is me staying under the radar,” I said, laughing. “I’m going to change. Make yourself comfortable.”

“Not likely,” Loki muttered as he plopped down on the couch.

I slipped into my bedroom and shut the door, gladly casting the dress aside in favor of a pair of pajama shorts and a soft tank top. The moment Loki was gone, I’d be crawling into bed and I didn’t want to have to change again.

I tossed Loki the dress when I joined him in the living room.

“Mmm, it’s still warm,” he said, sniffing it before setting it aside.

I rolled my eyes. “Males are all the same,” I whispered.
