Chapter 25: The Return

The cab let us out at the gates of the Nightshade Mansion. The city was full of celebrity homes up in the hills. The mansions were huge with protective gates around them and afforded the owners a lot of privacy.

Caleb had secured one of those mansions for the pack. He wanted them to have a place in the city but that still gave them privacy. Not only was there a gate at the driveway, but there was a huge brick wall around the entire perimeter of the property.

He really didn’t like unannounced guests.

“Are you sure you’re ready for this?” Loki asked, placing a hand on my back.

My legs trembled and I hunched forward, keeping my arms wrapped around myself. My stomach rumbled and I felt faint like there was no blood in my heart or veins.

“Gen?” Loki asked softly.

“I’m… I’ll be okay,” I whispered.
