Chapter 38: Planning a Raid

Captain Carson, Zinnia, and two other detectives were enjoying coffee and donuts in a locked conference room when I arrived at the police station. Zinnia had given me a few days to recuperate, but we had to get back on top of the Caleb situation.

I hadn’t told Loki that he’d still be coming after Persephone. That was probably something I should tell him but I wasn’t ready to face him again.

“Welcome back, Genevieve,” Captain Carson. “We could use your expertise in this operation.”

“I’m happy to be of help,” I said, taking a seat.

Zinnia slid the box of donuts down my way. I smiled and pulled out one of the plain, glazed pastries.

“As you know, we are keeping the timing and plans of this raid top secret until the time comes. We can’t risk another crooked cop tattling,” Carson said. His voice suggested he was still pissed about the dirty cop in his precinct.

“Yes, Zinnia told me. What is it you need from me?” I asked.
