Following steps

"So, Vinnie. If you saw us coming, why the hell were you just standing there, watching the show?" Josh nagged at Irvyn. "You could 've just received us."

"I… I didn't see you coming. It was coincident, I had some work to do, and that's why I was out," he cleared his throat, looking away from Josh.

Yvette instinctively looked towards the wide glass door, and just as she thought, everything happening outside was clearly visible from inside, even though one can never see what was going on inside from out of it. Even the surrounding glass wall separating the office was the same.

"Sheesh, he clearly saw us coming, huh," Yvette couldn't help but swear at him in her mind.

"Fine, you win. I did your work, now excuse me, as I have loads of things to deal with," he had a smirk on his face, while his eyes went towards the direction where the girl from before was standing in a corner, trying to steal a glance every now and then even though she knows she can't see a thing.

"Leave," Irvyn curtly responded, and with that cue, Josh took his leave.

Irvyn went back to his chair, flipping through a few files lying on top of the table. And seeing him immediately engrossed in his works, Yvette had no other choice but to sit down on one of the adjoining sofas in one corner. With nothing else to do, she picked up one of the magazines lying on the tabletop, and started flipping through it. The magazine was this month's business edition, and for obvious reasons, Irvyn's photo was there on the front page, featuring a news cover about him. She gazed a little while to the front page, looking at the man in a navy blue suit, sharp posture with a firm look on his face. She peeked at the man in person, sitting right in front of her, busy in the pile of papers. Both of the images felt exactly the same to her, be it on the papers, or in person.

She read out the article in her mind, not making any sound. It was about the upcoming summer collection 'Midnight Glam' is about to release. Being interested in the fashion world, Yvette follows each and every news story about 'Midnight Glam', but as for the man himself, she doesn't know a single bit of information. She could guess that this guy must be secretive regarding his private life, which is totally acceptable. But surely there must be some kind of leaks or information right? Should she check out a little bit of it at the very least, just to be safe in her days ahead?

She fished out her cellphone, searching for Irvyn's name. And tons of results popped up on her phone screen. She began to skim over them, but nothing really caught her eyes.

"There really aren't any leaks or rumors about him? Wow, talk about being some kind of paraffin," Yvette yawned a bit, while scrolling through her phone screen.

Irvyn finished all the papers he had to check through urgently, and when he moved his eyes up to the clock, it was already past lunch hour.

"Damn it, it took so much of my time," he stretched his arms a little bit, but soon stopped in the middle of it when his eyes fell on the sofa in his office. Or to be precise, on the girl, who was fast asleep there for who knows how long.

"Maybe too much of my time." A deep sigh escaped his lips. He had totally forgotten about her presence, and was so engrossed in his works that the reason why he brought her here totally slipped out of his mind. He got up from his chair, and walked up towards her.

Facing the opposite of him, Yvette was deep in slumber, at least that's what it seemed to him. He decided to nudge at her to wake her up. But as soon as his hands went closer towards her, she slightly moved in her sleep, currently facing him. And since he had closed in, her face was really up close before his eyes, making him startled. He was suddenly so surprised that he immediately retracted his hand. But when he processed his emotions, his eyes fell on her face, and the thick dark circles under her eyes.

"She seems to be really under a lot of pressure, huh," he muttered to himself. Seeing her sleeping so nicely, it was obvious that she didn't have proper sleep for so long.

"But it's already way past lunch time, and surely she didn't have hers." He decided to wake her up nevertheless. He loudly cleared his throat, in hopes of her hearing him. But the first time didn't work, as she didn't even budge a little bit. He had no other choice but to go a bit more near her, and cough loudly to make her listen. And this time, it worked.

"W-what? What is it?" Yvette jumped up on the sofa, sitting straight by the effect of surprise.

"How are you even sleeping there?" Irvyn spoke up, the familiar roughness in his voice. He backed off a little, then moved towards the door. "If you don't want to spend the entire day and night here in this office, you better get up and tag along." And without even waiting for any response from her, he went out of the office room.

"H-hey, wait!" Yvette hurriedly got up, running her fingers through her long hair which got quite messy thanks to the weird sleeping position of hers. And while still doing her hair roughly, she rushed behind him, following his steps.
