Engagement 2

"I want to get engaged to Derrick Dark, the young Baron" Rosetta said calmly while looking at her parents.

Earl Holman stood up in range "What do you mean you want to get engaged to that little brat?, how can an Earl's daughter be engaged to a baron's son?, impossible I will not agree to this foolishness"

The Countess on the other hand was a bit calm "Dear, why do you want to get engaged to that boy?, I have raised you and I know you won't make decisions except after thinking it through"

Rosetta was delighted at least her mother wanted to hear her out, on hearing this Earl Holman calmed down a bit and sat down again, waiting to hear Rosetta's answer.

"Father, Mother he saved me that is a crucial aspect but not the main one, I was there when he faced the orc and..." Rosetta was interrupted by the Earl saying "I don't believe that brat defeated an orc, you have to tell us the truth and the whole story."

Rosetta just sighed and said "yes he didn't defeat the orc but..." Earl Holman stood up and laughed before even getting the full story "I knew that kid couldn't beat an orc, he is a few years too young for that, hahaha haha, it was a huge feat for him to escape and he should proud of it, so what else were you saying dear" Earl Holman was just speaking his mind forgetting, that his daughter was actually there and could have died if not for Derrick.

Rosetta was just smiling politely at her father, who looked a bit too happy to hear that Derrick was not able to defeat the orc and said "We fled the scene, when he was fighting the orc but I had a feeling he could have defeated the orc, and another information I haven't mentioned is, he had up to three different attributes and I believe that's not all of them."

The faces of both the Earl and Countess turned serious "Are you sure about what you just said dear?" the Countess asked

"Yes mother, I saw it with my own eyes, he used water attribute, air attribute and light attribute, he ignored me when I asked how many attributes he has, so am guessing he is hiding a secret, and father, mother he is a good boy, a bit stupid thou, so I am pleading with both of you to get us engaged"

The Earl became quiet lost in his thoughts, he sighed and finally said "I will bring up this matter with Baron Dark, but as my daughter is this what you really want dear?"

"Yes father" Rosetta said while smiling brightly

"Alright honey, anything for my little talented daughter, is there any side effects to stabilizing your mana, do you feel any different?"

Earl Holman said a bit worried

"No father, I feel perfect and my temperature has gone back to normal, this was due to my impatience and happiness of my water attribute evolving to ice attribute, that I used too much of it a little too early which caused the disruption of my mana, that lead to my mana becoming unstable, thanks father, mother am fine now"

Rosetta said while hugging both of them.

Meanwhile back in the quarters of the Baron, Miranda was shaking Derrick for information, she wanted to hear the exploits of her son directly from him and was staring at Derrick with stars in her eyes, while Baron Stan was quietly looking at him.

Derrick just smiled at them and said "Mother I didn't defeat the orc, we ran away from the orc, Rosetta just exaggerated everything there, I don't know if she wanted to make me look good, or she was playing around but the truth is, I didn't defeat the orc I only stalled it and took Rosetta away 'gently', like she said"

Miranda was still happy and was asking questions that were irrelevant like "Did you carry her like a princess or gave her piggyback, was it like the prince in a white horse saving the princess, did she fall in love with your dashing looks and unwavering braveness"

Derrick was only smiling and just nodding at her, as if he was a pecking chicken but he was thinking 'if only you knew the truth mother, you wouldn't be asking these questions'

Baron Dark finally raised a question, he has been quiet all through and he finally said something "The Earl's girl said you healed her, son how did you heal her?, I don't remember you knowing healing magic or having the light attribute"

Derrick felt a little bit conflicted, he doesn't want to hide anything from his parents, but if he told them about his multiple attributes, new burdens will arise for him, he sighed

"Father, Mother don't get carried away but I have multiple attributes, I am not even sure how many but I can use three very well, and I can barely use two."

His parents were flabbergasted, they were shocked even Baron Dark couldn't hide the shock that was showing in his face, but it was quickly replaced by a big grin.

"Son, Are you sure about what you just said?, those anyone knows apart from us?."

Baron Dark was happy but was also worried, Derrick shook his head and said "No one knows, I usually don't leave the house, but no one apart from Rosetta Holman"....
