Derrick's Past Life

In a building, a little dilated, there were children who were playing around, but there was one little boy who was on his own at one lonely corner, he was alone, a boy of about three years, who had blonde hair and blue eyes, he looked a little malnourished, his eyes looked a little empty and he was just sitting by the side of the building, doing nothing but just staring at the ground twirling his fingers on the sand.

A nun or a lady who dressed as a nun came towards the boy "Joshua, why aren't you playing with the rest kids? you can't be sitting here alone, moping".

The boy looked up stared at the nun for a few seconds without saying anything dropped his head again.

The nun who felt she was ignored left with a frown, they have been discussing how abnormal the boy called Joshua was and was left alone.

This building was an orphanage, Joshua was Derrick in his past life, he lived in the orphanage until he was four, he hardly had any friends or didn't even have any friends and hardly talk to anyone, even the nuns usually ignores him.

After about a year when Joshua turned 4, on one particular morning a man, who looked scary to the young Joshua came, he was a man that was slim but fit, he had muscles at the right places but he wasn't burly, he had a scar across the cheek that made his whole persona a little dark.

He came for adoption and spotted the lonely kid at the corner in his usual spot, with his empty eyes, he liked the kid at first sight and took him for adoption, the nuns were happy that Joshua was finally going to be adopted, so they quickly filled the paperwork.

The man who adopted Joshua introduced himself as Mr Blade to Joshua and Joshua should call him Dad, "My name is Blade kid, what's yours?" the man got a silence as a reply, he only nodded and continued speaking "you should call me dad kid, I will be your father from now on" Joshua only nodded his head.

Mr Blade lead Joshua to a very good looking house, it was a bungalow and it seems Mr Blade was rich, Joshua had a very low self-esteem and couldn't really express himself, during his time with Mr Blade, who was patient enough with him and was also kind towards him, his empty eyes finally had a light in them and he was bit cheerful, well after about 6 months everything changed, Mr Blade informed Derrick that he was an assassin and a mercenary, he would be training Joshua into a killing machine and he was going to be renamed by Mr Blade "you would relinquish your past and your past name your new name would be Shadow, is a fitting name for you cause from now on you would be my shadow" Blade said to Joshua who was now shadow with a sinister smile, his face that looked scary before now looked even scarier.

Thus the hellish training of Shadow began, the training was very harsh to a 4 years old boy, and got harsher with time, he was told to swing a knife from morning till night and was told how he could throw it for swift kills, when he could properly hold onto a weapon, the weapon would be changed, in between there were hand to hand combat training he was beating to a pup almost everyday, he was only given minimal food to survive, the life that was once in his eyes disappeared and was replaced with a lifeless eyes which was hallow, he was trained how to wield different types of weapons knives, short sword, swords, spears, darts, shurikens, guns, grenades, he was even thought that his body were weapons, he was trained for up to 5 years and was finally given his first mission at the age of 10, he was to assassinate an African politician who was financing terrorist in the continent, the job was not an easy one for the young shadow because he was to travel to an unfamiliar terrain, evade most of the guards with firearms, which were numbered up to 50.

As a kid his training also included infiltration, trap detection, and as such he was sent in alone.

Shadow was a killing weapon but he still had his sanity intact, the mission was to sneak into the estate of the African politician and assassinate him there, without alerting anyone.

It wasn't easy and the best time for the job was midnight, Shadow was decisive he memorized every part of the estate, he could memorize and mostly was how he could get inside without getting detected.

The first mission was the hardest, and any hesitation could get him killed, Shadow got into the estate after distracting the two guards at the entrance of the gate, by confusing the dogs they had with them with smells that irritated them, he didn't have the blueprint of the estate but he knew were the target was.

There was a tracking device placed on the target and his only mission was to locate him and assassinate him in the estate.

His empty eyes which were the only thing visible in his black get up, he looked more of a ninja to an assassin, he was focused and determine, avoiding guards here and there and he finally located his target, he came face to face with him.
