Chapter 3

Three days later.

It had been a rough few days. I had run into a few rogues of the way and none of them were too fond of my alpha blood. My arms and legs were scratched up from the many attacks. The leaves crunched under my feet as I walked through the woods in a small area of unclaimed territory. There would be other rogues walking around and if I wasn't careful then I would run into one. Most rogues left their packs for reasons other than mine. Most got kicked out for doing cruel and bad things to their pack. I heard rumours of a couple alphas who were overthrown and made rogues. In any case almost all rogues were bad news. The only unclaimed land they didn't occupy was the area where alphas met up and that was only because unclaimed land was considered neutral land and therefore no one could fight on it.

I found a small cave close to a stream and decided to set up camp there. The cave was damp and humid but it had cover and no other wolves seemed to be in the area. I finally let myself breathe and rest as I laid down against the cave wall. I was sweating and sure I smelled disgusting and like blood. I knew a bath would be best then especially if I wanted to hide my scent before I left the next day so I got up and undressed quickly. I jumped into the freezing water quickly and sat still until my body got used to the temperature. I sighed and leaned into the water. So much had happened in such a short amount of time.

I wonder if my father and brother had lost the pack to Alpha Mason. There was a very slim chance they won that fight. Sarah probably ran back to defend her mate after I left. I wonder if she died.

I sunk even lower in the water, thinking about Mason. I didn't know how long it would take him to track me down. I needed to keep moving if I wanted to stay out of his reach because if there was one thing I knew about alphas it was that they were relentless.

I was so lost in thought I almost missed the shadow moving in close to me. I ducked almost fully under the water and took cover under a tree handing low over the water. Another rogue approached the river from the other side. I thought I was safe under the tree but he immediately locked eyes with me. I shivered and back up into a branch.

"Come here sweetheart I don't bite."

Every nerve in my body begged me to run and I listened. I quickly jumped out of the water and ran into the cave. I shifted and grabbed my bag in my mouth, running out of the cave before he even crossed the water fully. A few seconds after I took off I heard another set off paws running after me. This wasn't good. He was quick. Even with my speed he would catch up quickly. I weaved through the trees with ease in hopes he would stumbled somewhere but from the sounds behind me I knew I had no such luck.

I jumped into the air to jump over a log and in mid air another form threw me to the ground. I tried to move but I was pinned under him. My only strength was my speed. I had no way of escaping.

He shifted back on top of me and smiled a crooked smile. I had not wished for Mason, My father, or Tristan at all in the time I was gone but now I preferred anyone of them to save me.

"Shift back lovely."

I shook my head and wiggled under him. His grip tightened causing me to yelp in pain.

"You don't have a choice. Shift. Back."

Tristan, Mason, Father. Any of them. Save me. My thoughts eddied out as I shifted back. I was too vulnerable. His smile was crooked and gross.

"See? that was easy wasn't it?" He said as he placed a hand on my face, reminding me of just how utterly naked we both were.

Mason, Tristan, father. My mind flew to all of them. I knew mind linking was useless from that far away but I tried. Anyone. Help.

His hand came up to my throat and pinned me down by it as he ripped my bag from me. He pulled out a knife I had found and kept in the bag. His eyes became wide and mixed with his smile he looked insane.

"Well, I guess I could just have my fun first before anything else happens."

He slid the knife down my arm slowly and watched me closely as I screamed. He raised the knife again, I shut my eyes tightly to avoid seeing what he was gonna do next. I waited to the impending pain but instead my body was jerked to the side. I opened my eyes as he flew off me and he lost his grip on me. I scrabbled back and clutched my bag to me.

A huge wolf was pinning him and tearing him apart. The scene was horrible but some part of me took delight in seeing him die.

As soon as he stopped screaming and finally died the wolf turned towards me and I realized how much danger I was in. I backed up into a tree and clutched my bag over me to hide my body as I held my bleeding wound. Out of nowhere a smaller wolf approached me and threw a huge coat at me. Both wolves were identical in that they were both fully black. I gripped the coat and slipped it over myself.

I was confused but grateful. The smaller wolf approached me and sniffed me quickly before shaking her head. Both wolves walked away around a tree leaving me sitting there confused. I was less confused a second later when a small female came around the tree. She had jet black hair and hazel eyes. She was the female version of Mason. I knew immediately she had to be related to him.

Hatred glowed in her eyes but oddly not at me. She approached me again and held out her hand. I didn't make an attempt to grab it, instead I back further into the tree, just as Mason came out from around the corner. Dressed but covered in blood. They had the same look in their eyes.

"Come now mate, you didn't think I would just let you leave did you?" Mason asked.

"Brother be kind. She's scared. Now is not the time for you to act like that, she's not like the other alphas."

This time she kneeled before me.

"You're okay now. We dealt with the rogue. You can come home with us now."

"I don't want to go with you. I want to stay here. Away from everyone." I responded.

"You wont last out here with those wounds and we can't protect you. You have a pack now. They are waiting for their luna."

"I am not their luna."

"You are mated to my brother aren't you? that makes you a luna."

"I don't want to be mated to him."

Her face twisted with sadness.

"You will find that the truth is often hard."

I didn't understand but I didnt have the energy to argue with her more. My head became foggy and darkness closed in on my vision.

"Brother."

Two arms wrapped around me protectively as sparks ignited over my body.

"You shouldn't have let her run away. It would have saved us all this trouble. Plus she wouldn't have gone through this and we could have explained everything to her."

"A lot of these scars aren't from being out here. From the rumours I've heard, her pack treats the females terrible. Plus do you think she would have believed us anyway. Who would believe the cruel alpha and his ruthless little sister," Masons voice responded for the first time. It was deep and made me shake.

My vision finally went fully out as I blacked out completely.
