Chapter 10

Masons Pov

Lights shined brightly into the room. I had forgotten to close the curtains the night before. I was too busy savoring my mates touch. When Misa came back alone without Amora I was shattered. Utterly shattered. And when she came in, covered in blood it just about ruined me. And yet here she was, laying in my arms. I pulled her closer to my chest.

I sniffed the air. Despite both of us taking showers I could still smell the blood of the wolves both of us had killed. She had apologized to me over and over again for not getting them all but that didn't matter to me. She was safe. For an hour I had thought she was gone. I couldn't imagine the pain she felt in the hours she thought I was gone. She shifted and looked up at me. Her piercing blue eyes always stunned me but they were glowing this morning. She offered me a soft smile. Goddess I could die just from her looking at me.

"Good morning Mason," she whispered as she reached up and touched my hair.

In response I nuzzled into her neck. I could spend forever in her arms and never complain or be unhappy. Sparks ran up every place she touched me. I tried not to think of what the sparks would feel like when we mated. It only made me want her more.

Most of my wounds were already healing from the medicine the doctor gave me and being near Amora- one of the many great things about being a mate. She laid her head back down against my chest. I had no other plans then to lay with her. But of course Misa always had to bust in to ruin things. She busted through the door and walked over to our bed without a care in the world. I pulled Amora ever so closer.

"Stop sleeping you two and get up."

"Why exactly do I have to get up when we are healing?" I growled.

Amora reached up and covered my mouth. I bit it softly which earned a yelp from her and a scowl.

"What's wrong Misa?" She asked softly.

"The pack wants to see their alpha and luna at breakfast after yesterday's scare. At different points of the day they thought you two were dead."

Amora sat up and I followed with her.

I wanted nothing more than to hold my mate in bed with me but I knew she was right and so did Amora. She edged off the bed. Misa didn't bother to wait around. Amora stood up without me and walked over to the bathroom. Goddess she was beautiful. I knew from the moment I saw her alone while everyone was dancing that she was my mate. When I saw her father talking to that pathetic alpha about the arrangement while she stood there off to the side I had half a mind to kill them both and take her with me. Speaking to her for the first time was beyond amazing. I don't even remember what we spoke about, just that she was speaking to me.

When she went outside I told her father and brother about us being mates, they didn't take it well. I ran outside before they did to get her before they could take her. And I still lost her.

She came out of the bathroom while stretching revealing a scar on her hip when her shirt lifted. I tried not to stare or look angry. I couldn't imagine the things she went through. Her arms went down when she noticed me and she looked at the ground. I stood up and made my way over to her. I wrapped my arms around her and whispered in her ear.

"Don't hide your scars little mate. You're beautiful."

She stared into my eyes for a second. I pulled away from her first and went to get ready. After a quick show I walked out and Amora was already ready. She smiled at me and extended her hand to me. I took it gratefully as we made our way out of the room. Misa and Emerson were already waiting outside the room to my annoyance. I wanted to walk alone with my mate but my anger quickly went away when I saw the smile on all of their faces. My family. Misa hugged Amora and Emerson kissed her cheek. I had been so selfish to not let them see her and take in the fact she was okay the night before. Guilt took over me for a minute as they hugged.

When we finally started making our way to the dining room where most of the pack ate breakfast at Amora joined back to my side again. She squeezed my hand tight as if she was scared I would let go. We arrived to the room far too quicky. Everyone stood and bowed their heads to their alpha and luna as we took a seat in the center of the huge room. I spoke first as everyone looked at us expectantly.

"As you guys can tell we are okay, there was an ambush yesterday and we are still healing but no one is too hurt, thanks to your luna who fought off the remaining wolves and protected everyone in the village."

Amora looked to me shocked but she deserved the credit. Cheers rang out amongst our pack and a few grateful bows. Amora's smile was heart melting. She looked so beautiful smiling and truly being a leader of our pack.

After almost an hour of everyone talking to each other and me and Amora we finally sat down and ate. I didn't eat like usual. I wasn't ungrateful for the food I just hardly ever ate. Before Amora came I ate even less and hardly ever slept. I had been sleeping every night since she came and she often brought me food to eat and I could never deny her.

She looked up at me and pushed my plate towards me. I still hadn't told her about my hard time eating and sleeping but she figured out I wouldn't eat unless she told me.

"I'm fine little mate. I'm not hungry." It wasn't completely a lie. I was fine. I just didn't want to eat despite my hunger.

"Eat. Please Mason."

I sighed and picked up my fork to eat. She watched me for a minute before she was satisfied and turned back to Misa.
