Physical Exam

The walk to the infirmary is a quiet one. The infirmary is located on the second floor. It is a spacious room which is connected to several other small rooms. The main room is divided by tall white linen into several sections, like the ones in the hospital. Each section contains a patient bed, a chair, and a desk. The patient's bed is covered with white linen covering and a thick white blanket.

"Good morning, everyone! Welcome to Hogwarts' infirmary. My name is Madam Pomfrey. I'm a healer in charge here. Today you will each have a full physical exam in this room. The girls will be examined by me, while the boys will be examined by my healer partner from St. Mungo's, Mr. Ian Bole. Boys, please follow Mr. Bole to the adjacent room", said a tall woman wearing a white dress.

The boys walk to the back room following Mr. Bole.

"All right, now please follow me for your physical exam", said Madam Pomfrey. We then walk to another room on the left side of the main door. The room is divided into 4 different sections with 4 tall linens.

"All of you now go inside each section. One section is for one person, please. I'll be examining you one by one", Madam Pomfrey spoke.

Me, Padma, and Sue then walk to our respective sections. Since there are only three of us, one section is left empty. Padma chose the rightest section, I chose the one beside hers, and Sue is inside the one beside me. So, I'm in the middle of them.

Madam Pomfrey then walks inside Padma's section holding a note and closing the curtain. Ten minutes later, she gets out of the section. She then enters the section again with a syringe filled with purple liquid. After that, both of them exit the section.

"Your exam is done, you can wait outside for the others", she said to Padma.

Five minutes later, Madam Pomfrey enters my section while bringing another paper. But before she can close the curtain, I ask her if there's a contract stating that all of the information obtained here will be confidential, meaning that any third parties, not present here won't be able to access any info from it.

In which she smiles at me. Huh?

Then she goes back to wherever she was before and comes back with another paper. She handed me the paper and I read it. It's a legal-binding confidential contract stating all of my requests. After reading it 3 times for any loopholes, I sign it and give it back to Madam Pomfrey for her to sign. After that, she starts the examination.

Basically, she casts 3 types of diagnostic spells all over my body. The first one is colored blue. The second one is orange, while the last one is purple. I know them.

The blue one detects the physical state of the body like the stature, weight, fat composition, bone density, any physical illness at the moment, and such. The orange one is to detect the magical core: is there any block, is it developing well, is it circulating well, etc. The last one is to detect between the body and the magic: is it connected right or is there something blocking the connection, and such. If all is good, all three scans will change color to green. If something's wrong then the color will change to black.

Thankfully, all my scans change to green. After the scans, she said to me that I was healthy and she found no abnormalities in my body and magic.

Madam Pomfrey then asks me about any history of illness, how I feel at the moment, what my exercise regimen is, any vaccination, etc. All seem to be good, except for my vaccination. I haven't had any vaccination in the magical world before, but I had had the muggle's ones.

She then goes away for a bit and comes back with a syringe with purple liquid inside. It looks to be 1 ml in volume.

"This is a dragon-pox vaccine. Although dragon pox is rarely contracted by anyone nowadays, the severity of the disease is still high when one does get the disease. So, I'll be injecting you with this vaccine if that's all right with you?", she said.

"Sure, Madam Pomfrey. I think it best to get vaccinated."

Shen then injects the liquid into my left upper arm muscle (deltoid muscle). It's not painful, but after that, my arm feels a bit sore.

After that was done, she asks me if I have any more questions to which I say no. Then she let me go after reminding me to eat healthily, drink more water, and exercise regularly.

I then walk to the main room to wait with Padma.

In the main room, Padma is waiting with Anthony and Kevin. Both boys have done their physical exams too.

"Hullo!", I said. "I see that you've done the exams".

"Yes. It was not long. Just some simple scans, a vaccination, and voila. All good", Kevin said.

"Yeah, very fast. I did not expect it to be this fast, to be honest. By the way, your physical exam is quite long compared to mine. Is there a problem?", Padma asked me.

"All is good, thankfully. It's just that in the beginning, I ask Madam Pomfrey for any confidential contract I could sign. You know so that anyone other than us won't know anything about the results", I replied to them.

They all just froze after that. I don't think they realize that. Well, it's a good thing I'm telling them now.

"That's very thorough of you. Well, I reckon we should do that too, right Kev? Mr. Bole should let us sign the contract too. Come on, let's go back inside", Anthony said.

They both then walk inside their exam room again.

"I should go back inside to sign it too. Wait here for me, Lan", Padma said.

"Sure, take your time".

Some 15 minutes later, Padma and Sue walk out of the exam room together. In the end, Sue also signed the contract after seeing Padma do it. The boys have all done their exams and signed the contract 5 minutes later.

Since our class will not start until after lunch, we three girls decided to go to the library to read some books. Terry comes with us, but the other boys go to explore the castle.

When we come out of the infirmary, we pass the Gryffindor first years. I guess they'll have their physical exams after us. We stop by Parvati for a bit, during which she introduces us to her friends: Lavender Brown, Seamus Finnigan, Dean Thomas, and Neville Longbottom. The others have entered the infirmary, so I don't get to see more than them.

We also introduce our fellow Ravenclaws to the present Gryffindor. Padma also reminds Parvati and co to get some confidential contracts signed before the exams, in which they all thanked us for the information.

After that, we go our separate ways.

The library is located on the 4th floor. It is a huge room filled with thousands of bookshelves. Each book-shelves is fully filled with books. There are so many books here.

Madam Pince, the librarian, 'reminds' us before we enter the library to not make any sounds and keep to yourselves. She is one scary woman. She has this permanent scowling face on her.

Then we go our separate ways to explore after promising to read together in one of the group desks.

I look at my schedule for this semester. Every day, the class will start at 09.00 AM and end at 15.00 PM. One period is 50 minutes. Lunch is between 12.00 - 13.00 PM.

Monday: Charms (2 periods), History of Magic (1 period), Lunch, Transfiguration (2 periods).

Tuesday: Herbology (2 periods), Potions (1 period), Lunch, Defends Against the Dark Arts (2 periods)

Wednesday: History of Magic (2 periods), Transfiguration (1 period), Lunch, Charms (2 periods)

Thursday: Potions (2 periods), DADA (1 period), Lunch, Herbology (2 periods)

Friday: Transfiguration (2 periods), Charms (1 period), lunch, DADA (2 periods), Astronomy (1 period -midnight)

*Flying lesson for Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff will be held on Friday the Second week.

Aside from the schedules, students could join any student clubs if they wish so. Almost all of our classes will be taught with Hufflepuff, except Charms (with Gryffindor), and Transfiguration (with Slytherin).

I wonder how that happens?

Is it intentional?

Whatever though.

Because we'll have Transfiguration after lunch, I decided to read the book beforehand to review it. We all settle on the desk one by one. Padma is reading the transfiguration book too, Sue reads the charms book, while Terry reads the history of magic book.

Well, isn't this nice.
