Mother's letter

Sheila looked at the excited Blake sitting on the couch in the hall. Beside him was his travel bag where he had stuffed all his belongings. Seeing him like this reminded Sheila of the day she first picked up Blake from the basket.

"You seem too excited today brat." Sheila said teasing Blake.

"Come on aunt Sheila give me the letter. Stop teasing me." Blake said stretching his arm toward her. Sheila giggled and pulled out a white envelope from her pocket and handed it to him. Blake saw the envelope and the words written on it were

'To be given to Blake when he awakens his soul spirit.'

Without thinking much he pulled out a letter from inside the envelope and opened it and on it was written

Dear Blake,

You are reading this letter means you have become 8 years old and also awakened your soul spirit. I wish like every mother I could be standing behind you during the ceremony. I want you to know that me and your father love you more than anything in this world. The stronger you will get the earlier we will meet my child. After you finish reading this, put a drop of your blood on this letter which will let me know that you have grown and also let me see you to my heart's content.

As Blake was reading this a few drops of tears were sitting on his cheeks. Seeing the little devil with red eyes hurt Sheila a little so she went and sat beside him. She didn't want to read the letter as it was a personal letter from Blake's mom but Blake stretched his hand in her direction. She looked at Blake who had rested his head on her shoulder and smiled. She took the letter and started reading it. The letter didn't contain any information that could lead to Blake's parents or even their identity.

'A blood bond? Only truly strong Soul Masters can do it. With only a drop of blood of their own family member, they can spy on the person whenever and wherever they want.' Sheila thought.

"Blake see your parents love you and you used to complain that they abandoned you." Sheila said making a fake angry face.

"If you had given me this letter early then I wouldn't have thought like that." *hmph* Blake said and looked the other way while crossing his hands.

"Stop being a little girl and put some blood on it like your mother has written or do you want me to hide this letter again?" Sheila asked.

Hearing this Blake quickly took the letter from her hand and bit his finger. He dropped a few drops of blood on the paper and the words written in the letter started to get sucked in the drop of blood. After a few seconds, everything written on the letter vanished and the only thing left on the paper was the blood which looked dried up. Blake was about to say something when the dried blood caught fire and the whole paper disappeared in smoke.

"Eh? Aunt Sheila, what just happened?"

"Don't worry little devil the letter was coated with a spell to transport your blood to your mother. Now she can look at you whenever she wants." Sheila said and stood up.

Hearing this put Blake in his own thoughts 'Whenever she wants. This means even when I am doing something private. Or I am with a beautiful girl?' Blake's face turned a little red just thinking about it.

Sheila saw this and asked "What evil thoughts are coming in that evil brain of yours brat?"

Blake hurriedly stood up and lifted his bag "No-Nothing nothing, let's go we need to go to Shell city." and ran out of the orphanage hall.

Outside the orphanage, Josh was talking to Sister Mary and Priest Tom. Hearing blake's hurried footsteps the three of them turned toward the orphanage door.

"Oh, you are here Blake. Are you ready to go to Shell City?" Mary asked.

"Yes, aunt Mary. I am ready." Tom asked.

"Yes, Grandpa Tom I am starting my journey to become a soul master. Why won't I be excited? By the way Grandpa Tom how are we going to Shell city. I have heard that there are cars that run on mana but never saw them in the village." Blake said.

"Cars are only used for short-distance travel. We will go to the next village which contains a teleporter and we will instantly reach Shell city." Tom said laughingly.

The concept of a car was already foreign for someone like Blake who had never stepped out of Hana village until yesterday. But now knowing that something that can instantly transport him miles away is real had blown his mind.

By this time even Sheila had come out of the orphanage and stood beside Blake.

Mary ruffled Blake's hair and said "Let's go. I will accompany you and Sheila till the teleporter and on the way, I will tell you everything about Shell city."

After hearing this Blake nodded and looked at Josh and asked "Uncle Josh you aren't coming with us to the teleporter?"

"No Blake I have to stay here with your grandpa Tom as someone from the church is coming here. Don't worry next week I will visit Shell city when the things over here pick up the pace." Josh said.

Blake, Sheila, and Mary started walking away from the orphanage. He knew that he may not be able to come back here for the next 3 months at least. There weren't many kids in the orphanage and blake was always close to Sheila more than anyone else in the here. Today he was starting his journey to become strong. When Blake read the letter a few minutes ago, he had decided that he will leave his childish attitude here today and will focus on his strength more than anything. Blake wasn't too emotional about his parents but he was curious as to why they had to leave him on the footsteps of the orphanage.
