Chapter 16: From the Shadows

MILO'S POV

The first day passes, and she’s the only thought taking up space in my mind. I have to remind myself to keep the fury burning, to not let it cool into acceptance or lastitiude. It’s not about her. It’s not about me, either. It’s about them. My family. They shouldn’t have gone out like that. In fact, none of us should be here. I’ve got to do something about it. If I have to choose between my faith or action, I’ve made my decision which side I’ll come down on. My faith wasn’t solid ground anyway. Years of war have worn away at it.

And without the reigns of that doctrine, there’s no reason not to have her. That is, if she’ll still have me. I wouldn’t blame her if she told me to go f*ck myself. Despite giving me no evidence, I accused her of atrocities.
