Chapter 28: Squirt Guns, Nori

NORI’S POV

I have a hard time letting Milo go, letting him grow into the vampire he’s destined to become. I do feel the need to hover, to protect, to manage, though I’d never admit it to him. He’s had enough of that for a lifetime, and he’s not even technically alive. He’s a fledgling, not a child, and his status as such probably won’t last too long. Since his one slip up, he hasn’t let himself off his leash during any hunts. He wants his control to be beyond reproach, and since that first feed, it has been. It’s a bit eerie, in fact. Fledglings are like human teenagers, prone to moods, to unending hunger, to bursts of inexplicable energy. He hasn’t allowed himself any of it.
