Chapter 40: Vampire Game Night

NORI’S POV

The sun is bright on the water, so much so I can feel it even in the middle of the day sleep, resting behind both non-reflective film and black out curtains. It’s not painful exactly, more like the feeling you get right before a major headache takes hold. It doesn't hurt, but it’s a sure sign some hurting is one step away. We gave our people sleeping bags I modified myself, ones that zip up completely, covering the head and neck as well as the rest of their skin. If a human were to step into the large area we turned into a barracks, it’d look like a floating ghost town carrying body bags.

Thank goodness the yacht we’ve acquired has an autopilot feature. Neither of our people with sailing know-how could stand the blazing sunlight, made worse by its glinting off the waves.
