Chapter 41: The First Strike

MILO’S POV

“Alright,” I say, inviting her to go on.

It feels nice to touch her again. We haven’t been alone, just the two of us, since we left American shores. I was a soldier for eight years, and I can vouch for a woman’s company being as likely to find during that time as a unicorn. Yet, a week without having Nori beneath me, atop me, her bare skin caressing mine, is so much more difficult than all those years of sexual deprivation.

I love her. Wholly. Absolutely. With every iota of the man I was and every bit of the vampire I am becoming. Perhaps that’s why her words make me hold on to her shoulders tighter. Why’d she tell me there weren’t vampire marriages if it was untrue? Is she still unsure?

“When we get to Bilbao, before we do anything else, I’m going to have to find the Cauldron that presides over the city. Would you like to come with me?” she asks.

“Of course,” I answer, waiting for the trap.
