Chapter 12: A Conversation

John took a sip from his second pour as he had already finished the last one. The ice clunking in the glass cup kept sending shivers down my spine as he hadn't said anything for the past five minutes while he kept looking over all the documents.

He should have been able to read through it quickly as there were only ten pages, five for each of us. But he kept reading over it like he was trying to solve some puzzle without obtaining a hint.

He suddenly threw the paper back onto the table with a loud sigh, gulped down his drink, and stood up again. Instead of just pouring another glass as he did before, he grabbed the bottle with two more cups and was ready to pour us a drink.

"Um, sorry, but we're still underage. We can't drink..." I said, realizing my mistake too late.
