Chapter 42: The Horde

"Lulu on your right!" I yelled. "Ace behind you. Elaine, I need you to hurry up without that spell."

Elaine finished chanting right there, and I felt a surge of mana.

"Fly my heavenly lights and burn a path forward! Flame Arrows!" I yelled.

Everyone got off the path fighting the massive bat monsters as a shower of arrows rained over them, pinning them to the ground or killing them outright. I kept outputting more and more until no more bats were left, and I fell to the floor gasping for air.

"Ash, are you okay?" Lulu asked as she dropped next to me.

I reassured her I was alright as Elaine came up and healed me from overexerting my mana. My arms had gone numb there, so I was fearful, but I was back to normal. Lulu helped me to my feet, and I scanned the aftermath as Tank and Ace killed off any bats still alive.
