A moment of silence subsisted between them. Lendon waited for her answer while staring at her thoughtfully. Kendra didn't expect that Lendon would notice her eyes. She cried too sadly on her way back here.
Kendra hesitated and didn't know how to explain. She doesn't want Lendon to know how painful she felt when her father's last words before she left home after dinner reminded her that she's now totally an outcast.
"What happened while you were at home?" Lendon's voice came again. He knew something must happen. This woman was really so weak, he thought.
"Nothing." Kendra looked away, trying to hide her frustration. She didn't dare to look at Lendon's questioning gaze.
