Captured (2) - 21

"Creeeeeaaaakkk... Creeeeeaaaakkk..."

Rubbing my head, where a little discomfort was, my skin there immediately reformed into a smooth surface and my hair grew back up, discarding the blood that had coagulated there.

Opening my eyes, I could only brace my hands in front of my for impact right away as the room I was in suddenly tilted sideways and everything in my cell lurched towards the opposite end.

Quickly regaining my balance with my demonic physique, I twirled in the air to stop the momentum from pushing me anywhere, and stayed in the spot that I was originally in.

Then, just like a pendulum, the room swung back, and tipped over to the other side, my side, sending all the objects that had just been thrown to the other side back at me.

Easily dodging all the object, I calmed my queasy stomach as I got used to the swaying of being on a boat, albeit, this was more than just "swaying".

"Nina, you okay?" I asked, into an apparent nothingness.

"Yeah, I'm fine, are you? I'm pretty sure these damned Drüskelle hit you in the head hard enough for blood to spurt out, right?"

"I'm fine, I healed the wound as soon as I woke up."

"..."

My answer only brought silence to her as she marveled at how adept at the small sciences I was.

After all, no normal heartrender, or corporalki for that matter, could do what I just did. Put simply, it was almost an impossible feat, if only beings such as Zoya weren't alive.

"Wait, how did you use the small sciences if your hands were tied?" She asked, suddenly realizing something.

After all, veteran Drüskelle like Carl Braum would never forget to bind the hands of all grisha aboard his ship full of prisoners.

I mean, we were considered enemies of nature itself in the eyes of the Drüskelle, witches that needed to be exterminated from the world.

And, a grisha's weakness were their hands, as every grisha was dependent on their hands to use the small sciences.

But, I was different, after all, I could just grow a new pair of hand whenever I wanted, and my healing was already top notch due to my physique, so it didn't really matter.

The only situation in which it would matter was when I was actually using my small science, as, being a survivor of Jurda Parem, I could use a completely unique form of small science, different from all other grisha.

And this small science required the utmost concentration at its highest level, something that I wasn't going to be needed anytime soon though, thankfully.

Anyways, if you were confused by the past 400 or so words, then here's an explanation for the situation that we were in right now.

A few days after the massacre incident, just like in the novel, Nina was captured by the Drüskelle patrolling the Wandering Isle, and had been taken prisoner to be sentenced to a "trial" and executed in Fjerda.

The difference this time, was that I had been taken prisoner alongside her.

To explain my injury, I had put up a small fight in order to make it look like I was actually trying not to get captured, as she had seen some of my skill before the other day, albeit, in a very drunk state, so, I just did it to avoid suspicion, leading to an almost life threatening injury.

If only I had not been a demon, sigh... what a shame.

Anyways, back to the current situation, I thought a little about how I could answer Nina's question.

Finally deciding on a plausible explanation, I just said,

"I was able to break my restraints. It seems like the accidentally used moldy rope to tie me up."

In the process of saying this, I snapped the ropes that had been holding my hands together, locked in a way where I couldn't move any one of my fingers even an inch, the sound masked by the sounds of the ship groaning as it swayed back and forth.

Currently, as this was still mostly canon material, the ship was probably just entering a storm right now, and about an hour later, it would most certainly wreck.

Now, all I had to do was avoid suspicion until then, and then stick with Nina once the ship went down.

"How long have a been asleep?" I suddenly asked, wondering about Nina's situation, as for some reason, I was in a cell by myself, whilst I was sure that when I had read the book, Nina had been in a cell with some other grisha.

"One week. It seems like you were noted as dangerous for having been able to put up a physical fight against them, so you were given your own cell."

"Well... what an honor."

"Yeah sure, now, with you hands now unbound, do you have a way to help all of us break free."

"No, I'm not a fabrikator, and so these metal cells won't be budging anytime soon. Let's just wait and access the situation."

"Okay."

And that was the end of our conversation.

Then, I just watched, well, listened with my super senses to basically map out what was happening in the ship, as the event of the canon played out, and Matthias gave water to the Grisha.

Honestly, I just thought that the lump of meat was being dumb, giving his mortal enemies something that they could break and use as a weapon, but, what could I do? I would just let it play out so that, in the end, I would be able to obtain everything that I needed in this world.

And finally, the ship broke just as the Grisha were freed from their bindings, causing many of the people on this ship, Drüskelle and grisha alike, to start drowning as the icy cold water soaked most of their bodies.

As for me, once the ship broke in half, I was freed, and I immediately started swimming in the direction that I knew Nina was.

It was about time for the ill fated pairing to completely connect after all.

Finally reaching her, I found her already on top of Matthias, helping him with her small sciences as they started swimming in a random direction.

You see, with her abilities as a heartrender keeping him warm, and his muscle power pushing them through the water, they made a really effective team, that, in a few hours, would actually be able to reach land despite the almost glacier temperature waters and the waves that kept crashing over their heads due to the storm.

"Nina!"

"Hearing my voice, Nina immediately turned to look at me, before leaning forward and whispering something in Matthias' ear."

Apparently, she had asked him to stop, as they waited until I swam up next to them.

Expecting some reaction from me, as a Drüskelle was working with a grisha, I betrayed their expectations as I just looked at them with a blank expression before starting to swim past them.

Huffing, Matthias, being the man that he was, followed soon after, his pride not allowing him to yield in a battle of strength and endurance to a grisha.

A few hours later, we hit land.
