ACT LIKE IT II

I tried to do as he said, it helped that I felt his presence behind me as I walked.

One step at a time, two step. I was doing it. I felt a stare towards my left and turned to see who it was, there was a woman staring at me from her window. It was Lily Cane, at least I thought that was her name, I recognised her as the mate of one of our pack warriors. Her son had participated with me during my very firsts attempt at the trials. She had told him to stick with me, as a beta, I could assure both our victories, she was wrong.

Due to her son's inability to pass the trials on his first try, like the rest of her family, She had resented me ever since.

Though her son had passed the second time around, I still wasn't forgiven. Her eyes said it all, I haven't been very popular for a long time.

I felt fear setting in.

'Taylor.' Dad growled.

I stopped and took a deep breathe, I schooled my face into a bored expression then I raised an eye brow at the woman. Lily. Her lips moved to form a snarl. I narrowed my eyes at her . She couldn't touch me. She was just a coward, just an intimidator. I let out a growl of my own. It came out louder than intended, but it didn't matter. It had done its job.

I saw shock fleet through her eyes, but her face had a neutral expression. I looked around, people were either growling or glaring.

No one approached me me though. I walked forward, heading straight to the training grounds. With dad's words ringing in my head, I straightened my back and put on a bored expression. I didn't want to disappoint him...Again.

Not again.

Anyone that so much as looked at me funny, I growled and glared till they looked away.

"Cowards." I said out loud, I noticed some of them wince. I scoffed and continued walking.

Maybe I was taking it a bit too far. I felt my resolve start to weaken, so I picked up the pace to get away from their stares and unfriendly faces.

When I reached the training grounds , I breathed a sigh of relief. I'd made it , I turned around with a smile one my face to look at Dad. But he was nowhere in sight.

"Dad?" I called out to him.

There was no one here. Just me. I suddenly had a sinking feeling. 'Dad? Dad?' I called out through the link.

Where had he gone of too? When? I was worried that maybe someone would realize I was unguarded and try something. It was no secret I couldn't take them on in a fight.

'Taylor, You're alright, I can see you.' he answered.

He suddenly jumped out of the woods in his wolf skin and walked towards me. His russet colored wolf dwarfed me completely.

He stopped right in front of me and sat down. He stared at me, as I stared at him. Our eyes mirroring each other. I wasn't afraid of him while he was in this form. He tilted his head and bared his teeth in a wolfish grin.

I suddenly remembered the trails night again, the wolves, the teeth. I couldn't fight them off. I took two steps away from him.

A new low, i was afraid of my own kind.

He narrowed his eyes, it was even more intimidating than when he was human.

'Taylor, are you afraid?' He asked quietly.

"No." I answered.

'Liar,' he growled, 'I can smell your fear.'

He started walking towards me, two steps forward, I took two steps back. He suddenly growled, it was loud and terrifying.

'Do not move.' he said. 'Are you really scared of me right now?' He sounded hurt and a bit irritated. I felt bad, it wasn't him exactly, I just kept on remembering that night for no good reason.

Taylor stop it, I told myself. This is your father.

I stood stil, took a deep breath and closed my eyes. I knew he was walking towards me, I could feel it. I opened my eyes, to find him right in front of me, his nose almost you touching mine.

Dad was a big wolf. I wondered how I didn't notice him shift and tail me through the woods.

"Dad, I'm not scared if you." I smiled and reached to pet him. "I was just wondering how I didn't notice you shift."

He gave me a wolfish grin. 'I'm sneaky.' he replied.

"That would mean that the pack knew right?" I asked. It explains why they left me alone, I didn't really get here on my own.

'Oh they didn't.' Dad replied with a twinkle in his eyes.

"Huh. You shifted right behind me, just after you spoke to me." I said confused.

'Taylor, you're not very observant, are you? After I pushed you in front of me, I gave you the rest of the instructions in this form. When you growled at Lily from her window, I decided to let you be. I shifted in the woods, no one knew I following you. That was all you.' he explained.

I was stunned. "But I- I thought it was cuz you were behind me." I said.

'Nope.' he said. His tail started wagging. 'You did good.' he said again.

'No one can touch you, a challenge or stupid tradition won't change the fact that you are a beta's daughter. Mine at that.' he growled.

'If that wasn't enough to make them piss their pants, then your display sent the message. Now they know you are my daughter. You sure acted like it.'

He laughed in my head, his tail wagging faster, then suddenly stop. He was in my face, looking me in the eye, up close and personal.

He really had a knack for intimidation. Hee growled low, but threateningly.

'Are you ready to fight like it?' He asked.

I wasn't scared of his growl, or his tone, I had to be intimidating and strong. Beta blood wasn't enough. My failures had proved that time and time again. I lacked the skills, or maybe I didn't, but they were untrained. Practically non existent. I wasn't going to transform into an apex predator like dad in a night. He had to earn his title, his place, his respect.

"I'm ready Dad." I said out loud.

'Good.' he replied.

Then he threw his head back and let out a howl.
