A voice as serene as a motionless ocean, but tinged with pride and arrogance, poured into Kain's ears like a tidal wave.
Kain subconsciously took a step back. His instinct was furiously ringing it, warning him to run.
Kain's mind went numb as if a mountain had descended on him when the wolf looked down on him. It was the pressure of a strong when meeting a weak.
As one of the weakest creatures, this was a natural reaction when confronting a predator.
When confronted with the predator, the victim has two options, but only one lead in the right direction.
If you submit, you will become the servant of the predator, but what happens if you meet another stronger and fiercer predator? Naturally, you will be the first to be thrown into a cliff.
And let's not talk about whether you can escape.
However, if you genuinely fled, you were extremely fortunate; however, you cannot escape being weak and constantly hunted by hunters, scurrying around like an animal waiting for someone to catch you, being cooked, and eventually devoured.
Unless you wanted to change, you were walking on hot lava, swimming in a stormy sea, and kissing death every day to achieve your goal of becoming stronger.
Like a skeleton with a human mind, Kain's chance of defeating an alpha wolf was 000.000 percent.
It was like a chick fighting a group of crocodiles.
Unless he has heaven-defying luck or some mysterious master protecting him secretly because of the order of his mysterious parents, that, too, had a 0.0001 percent chance of occurring.
Absolutely impossible.
Kain's skeletal head was spinning as he kept looking at his master as if telling him what to do and protecting himself from the wolves.
"Little necromancer, you steal what does not belong to you, a brave one. But that is our property. For millennia, our clan guarded it. I'm not sure what sorcery you stole without our knowledge, but you truly infuriate our clan. Necromancer, you're stepping on our pride."
From the pack emerged a wolf. It was a wolf larger than the one Kain had battled, with exquisite white fur sparkling in the moonlight and deep dark blue eyes, but inside was a volcano waiting to explode and a half-moon symbol on its brow.
It's both terrifying and beautiful.
"Stole?" Kain was bewildered and looked at his mysterious master, who appeared to be deep in thought. Nobody knows what she was thinking.
'So the woman is the reason the wolves are chasing us.' What did she steal to elicit such a strong reaction from the wolf? Who is this woman? Why did she steal it? '
Many curious questions arise in Kain's thoughts, but only his master can answer them.
"What stole?! I simply get what belongs to me. This does not belong to you! My mother gave this to me when I was born, but it vanished when my mother died..." Her voice sounded sorrowful when she spoke the word "mother."
Rose clenched her fist so firmly that blood dripped from her hand. Nobody knew how angry she was. "When I was looking for it, I found it traced to your clan's location! So you're the one who takes what doesn't belong to you!"
"Yours?" roared the alpha wolf, echoing through the forest. "We've been guarding it for a thousand years before you were born! A human with a limited life span dare to claim that it's yours! Utterly foolish! Strictly speaking, your mother must be the one who steals it from us, and she gives it to you."
"I, I." She didn't know how to respond. Rose knew she couldn't convince the wolf. There was a deep secret inside her and was afraid to let it out, so Rose couldn't utter a single word.
Rose gritted her teeth when she saw the wolf's mocking gaze toward her. "Enough talking! Come, Gashadokuro!"
As she punched the ground, a green energy ball appeared in her hands.
The green energy ball scattered like a mist on the ground.
The ground trembled and cracks appeared, with a dark green aura pouring out of them.
Kain could hear agonizing screams and sounds. He could see a vague, transparent human face in a dark green aura, with a fearful and despairing expression.
He did not know what the face had done to get this way.
A giant skeletal hand appears from the ground, followed by a horrifying gargantuan skeleton. Its body was curled as if it was staring at something attentively.
The titanic skeleton emerged from behind its summoner. Kain, who was close by, sensed a suffocating aura. He took a step back and turned away reflexively.
'That's why she wasn't afraid, because she had this. I'm not sure how strong it is, but given its size, it should be.'
Size does not define strength. There are many stories about giants being defeated by an opponent far smaller than they were.
On earth, there was a story Kain was familiar with—David and Goliath. It is about David killing Goliath, who has a sword and shield with just a sling.
This rule, however, does not apply to this world because there was called magic in this world.
Anyway,
Boom!
The Gashadokuro hands appeared above Kain's field of vision, as the enormous bone hands slammed into wolves like slapping a mosquito.
Awooo!
"Kill the necromancer!" The alpha wolf ordered, "Damn bones! Howl Lance!"
The alpha wolf howled as it charged forward as the barrier materialized, blocking the attack.
Boom! Boom!
It generated a shock wave that would have sent Kain flying if not for the skull shield that emerged in front of him.
"Thanks!" Kain turned to face his master, who stood alongside him.
"Humph! It's not for you; it's to keep me safe. Take it. I need you to guard me against the remaining wolves until Gashadokuro finishes dealing with the wolf." Rose's tone was confident, as if she was certain the titanic skeleton could beat the wolf. The only issue that remained was the underling.
The alpha pointed its head as if about to ram the skeleton. The moon symbol on its forehead glows in the wolf's rush with great speed.
Woosh!
The titanic skeleton moves its two hands, the hands carrying the surrounding air, creating sonic boom sounds as it claps both hands, catching the wolf.
clap!
It is an alpha wolf, not a normal wolf. It was useless against it.
The wolf specialized in speed and coordination when hunting. Because speed was to catch their prey while coordination was their strength to kill the prey.
It could be said a pack of wolves could kill a titan if they had a strong leader.
And that's an alpha wolf.
The wolf increased its speed as it howled once more.
The alpha wolf rammed its head against the titanic skeleton, causing it to almost stumble back.
Seeing this, the wolf jumped onto its backbone and forcefully bit the neck. However, the Gashadokuro was too strong, so it regains its focus before slapping the wolf on its shoulder.
Boom!
A shock wave rang when the skeleton's hand landed on its bone shoulder.
Meanwhile,
The remaining wolves charge at the two, a woman wearing a black robe and a skeleton with a skull shield.
"How about you summon a skeleton soldier? How could you expect that skeleton to protect us and defeat the wolves?" Kain bawls out while looking at the two forces fighting. He could see a scratch appearing on the surface of its bones. The Gashadokuro may have been powerful, but it was slow, and the wolf's speed couldn't defeat its defense.
He didn't know how long they would last; he hoped that his big daddy could defeat the big bad wolf.
"See, think before you act!" Kain berates.
"Yep, I'm not a big thinker, so just protect me!" Rose sticks out her tongue.
"Y-You!" Kain was speechless. 'Damn selfish woman!'
However, Kain couldn't blame her either. From Rose's point of view, Kain was just a skeleton she summoned. Naturally, it was his job to protect.
If not because she was his master and had the 'authority' to order him around, he would have already abandoned her.
When he first saw her, his entire existence was screaming in joy and saying, "This is our master, we must protect her!"
So, he could only grind his teeth. "In the first place, how do you expect me to fight ten wolves that could tear down my bone any moment with just a shield, huh?"
"I help you…"
Before he could listen to her, Kain was sent flying. Apparently, he was too focused on arguing with his master that he forgot the wolves were targeting them.
Woosh!
"Gugh!"
Kain was crushed near the big skeleton.
Roar!
The wolf that attacked Kain roared as it showed its row of canines, about to bite him.
Slap!
The wolf was sent flying by the big bone hands.
The wolf looked pitiful as it let out a wail.
"Thanks, man." Kain looked over and nodded.
The Gashadokuro let out a strange sound. Kain understood it.
It meant, "Save our master."
"Tooth for tooth, bone for bone," Kain said as he looked down at the injured wolf, which appeared to have suffered a brown fracture from the earlier slap. "I hope in your next life you will be a skeleton so we can be friends!"
Woo!
The wolf looked pitiful as it let out a painful wail.
The wolf died as Kain's skeleton hand crushed the wolf's windpipe.
Kain may be weak, but he was strong in front of an injured enemy.
"Help!" Rose yelled; she was fighting the remaining wolves with magic.
A ten-blade bone floated around her; it was shot one by one at wolves.
Whoosh!
Some were lucky enough to avoid it, but some were not. However, this doesn't make them stop.
They were the pride of their clan! They were wolves!
Looking at it from other perspectives, a necromancer who could use death magic, and the titanic skeleton, compare to them, Kain who seem the ones who needed protection.
Kain rushed over, seeing Rose was in danger, and suddenly stopped when a voice rang in his ears before running again.
[Do you wish to absorb the life force?]
However, Kain didn't have time to care.
"Yes!" Kain yelled, but still didn't stop rushing over.
[You gained 5 life forces.]
