Maya was on the phone with her parents the next morning,

"How is dad doing?" She asked sorrowfully.

"He's surviving, although he's been acting up lately, the 10,000 dollars you gave to us helped a lot. But we need more to keep him stable. Have you found a job?" Mrs Hunts asked with high hopes.

"Yes, mother, a good job. I'm working at a company starting today. They pay well and in no time I would get the remaining money needed for Father, I promise."

"Maya my child, you don't need to kill yourself, I don't want to lose my husband and you too." Maya's mother said as they both laughed.

"Mother, you won't lose me. I'll work twice as hard to get the money. Dad would be okay, I promise." Maya said as she hung up the phone.

She started preparing for work, she had no professional clothes so she went to a nearby pawnshop,

"Good morning, Miss. How can I help ya." The pawnbroker said.
