A special someone (2)

Knowing her grandmother wasn't worried for her made Vera rest assured. Oddly enough, even though those were the words of an old woman on the brink of death, it made her feel better.

Those words made Mike sleep better as well, for he didn't have to say to an old woman he wouldn't marry her granddaughter.

«Who are you dating?» Mike asked again before Vera could fall into slumber. «Why don't you trust me enough to tell me?»

«I'm not dating anyone.»

«No? Then what about this?»

He pointed at the bruise visible from the pyjama.

Vera's daily clothes covered it, so no one could see that someone had bit her there. But night clothes were lighter and exposed part of her shoulders.

«Oh, no. It's not a boyfriend. Just a dude I had a one-night stand with.»

«And he dared do that to you?»

«Yeah...»

«Wait, wait. One thing at a time, it's too much for me. First of all, a one-night stand? You? Were you drunk?»
