A new beginning

When Vera woke up, she wasn't alone. It took her a little longer to remember everything that had happened, starting from her grandmother's funeral to everything else.

Including the General's orders.

So, those arms were Neven's. And he hadn't yet done anything she needed to be angry about. He had even stopped being angry after seeing her suffer.

She had no illusion it would turn things for the better, though. It was just convenience. He couldn't do much with a woman whining in pain.

She tried getting away without alerting him, but he woke up and dragged her back.

«How are you feeling now?» he asked.

She didn't know whether it was because it was a curse - and not an illness - so every pain was gone, or his aura had helped her heal. Either way, she didn't feel that bad. Just, she had learnt the lesson: she wouldn't complain about being captured ever again.
