A calm village (2)

When they woke up, it was mid-morning. The village they stayed in was so different under the sun and with the lively streets flowing with people.

They would laugh, chat, and argue with each other, filling the air with the noises of life. There were a few stalls selling vegetables in the corner of the central square, and the two bakeries had opened their doors to let the scent fill the streets and attract their clients.

Some of the residents were driving their tractors and headed out to the fields. There was also a cart pulled by two thin horses.

Vera couldn't recognise the silent, eerie village they had seen that night.

She had woken up before Neven, so she opened her window and observed the life outside. She liked it. It reminded her of home.
