Revelation

Vera left the bag with groceries on the table before walking away to wash her hands. Neven had two other bags - they had done proper shopping, in the end - and he started unpacking while waiting for her.

At some point, he had turned silent. Maybe, it was because he had noticed her pale face and tired eyes. He didn't feel well about it.

He didn't dare ask her, though.

He followed her movements with his eyes and noticed she was clumsier than usual, but he pretended not to see. She had made the knife fall twice before leaving it in the sink and turning away.

She filled a pot with water and turned the stove on. She opened the jar with the seasoning and sniffed the content, to check whether it smelt as good as it looked.

Since it did, she left it on the side and turned to check what else she could make for dinner. Neven had bought some meat, but she wasn't in the mood to prepare it because she felt rather tired.
