Vera glanced back at the man in Neven's office, considering whether to leave. In the end, they had some family business to take care of. She was an outsider, and they might feel awkward if she stayed there.

But, when she turned her back to reach the door, she was stopped by not one but two voices. Her first reaction was annoyance: they truly did look alike.

«Stay right there,» said Neven's father.

«You don't have to leave,» were Neven's words. Oh, at least he wasn't acting all bossy. That would have infuriated her at that very moment.

She wondered how had Klara survived thirty years surrounded by dragons. Not just a husband, but even two sons! That woman must have been a saint.

One dragon at a time must have been bearable, but two together? Vera was tired after a couple of seconds only!

«Do you need me?» she wondered, her lips curled up in a polite smile.

«I'm here to talk with you, in fact,» Styepan Darga said.
