A dragon lady

Nena didn't react to Vera's words. In the end, it might have been by chance.

Maybe she had assumed she was a dragon because she had something in common with Neven and his father. Maybe she had just attempted a guess. There was no reason to let her see any trace of surprise.

However, it did bother her that Neven had told a stranger about his nature. He should have been more careful about it, instead of revealing it to the first pair of pretty eyes he had stumbled upon.

«It's the first time someone tells me so openly that I'm legendary,» she said out loud. «You flatter me.»

Meanwhile, Klara made them sit at the table in the dining room. It was time for dinner, finally. She could have Nena scare Vera for the duration of it, and Klara would have taken the fatal blow by asking her to leave both her sons in peace.

«You were always special,» Styepan confirmed, in fact. «Even as a child.»
