A greater purpose

Vera couldn't be sure because she hadn't paid too much attention, but that man was one of the faces she remembered because he had no name.

They had searched for the names of every person present at the auctions, and they had found billionaires, businessmen, politicians... Sometimes even just fairly rich people, who can afford to spend thousands for a magical item.

However, among the sea of faces, one had no name. He wasn't someone who had ever been in a newspaper, nor had he a recent picture in the Europol database. He wasn't researched, and the agency had found no reason to run face recognition programs on the base of European citizens. He was just a buyer, after all. Likely, he hadn't even dealt with people but just objects. His only crime was being a witness to human trafficking without denouncing it.
