Whatever it takes

After chatting with Ethan, Vera felt alive. Even though her arm was sore, she didn't want to worry anyone and kept it hidden from the rest. Also, it was not as new of a feeling, at some point. She was getting used to it, and touching Neven would push the dark energy back by a few inches.

As for the stings of pain - not even so painful anymore, just annoying stings - they were more of a reminder that time was ticking off. She had to take care of Yavan before he recovered from the long period with sealed powers. And she had to understand better why Neven's powers were suddenly awakened. She had that unpleasant, dooming thought that something had changed in the world. As if it could never go back to how it was before. Even though it was a stupid thought: the world had changed so many times already, and it had never reverted. It was just another, pointless struggle for the poor souls building life into it.
