Vera closed the door and waited for a moment before sitting on the bed. She didn't need to guess to know that a woman couldn't just sleep after finding out all that Tanya had found out.

She was just pretending, taking the chance to rest her body and clear her mind.

Not just that an unknown woman was a danger to her boyfriend, but there was also magic and some kind of politics involved. Tanya couldn't understand what had she done wrong to be targeted, and she feared that word - curse - more than she feared pain alone. Her grandmothers would sometime mention it with such tension that she had always laughed. But now, at that very moment, she didn't feel to laugh anymore. She wished to go back, and listen more carefully to those stories.

She winced, forgetting the weight on the bed. Even though she was the cause of the mess, Vera didn't fill the room with her presence. She was there, sitting in silence and waiting for Tanya to get used to it.
