How to kill a witch (3)

Vera's fingers danced in the air, collecting the energy she needed to cast a spell. She hadn't ever fought with another witch.

Not like that. She had cast spells against others. She had dealt with creatures using the energies she could grasp. But never before she had been in a real battle.

On the bright side, neither had Sara. Witches wouldn't fight each other, usually. Something was linking them all, even when they stood on different sides. That connection wouldn't often be broken, so most witches wouldn't even tease Vera - let alone all the things Sara did. The latter was special in more than one way. Not just with her disposition but also with the easy mood with which she could bully a peer of hers.

When Vera had full control over the energy she had gathered, she sent it towards Sara with no second thought. It cost her a lot to do that, to transform something untouchable into a motion.
