The only sound in the long room was the pitter patter of the rain drops falling on the glass window and the clinking of the spoons time to time against the plates. Two women sat at the ends of the dining table that almost covered the entire room. The maids stood by the door ready to serve when called in. The women ate in silence as if strangers sitting in restaurant eating their own food not daring to say a word unless the circumstances forced. One couldn't tell if their relation was stained or it was the elder one's command to not talk while eating. To break the silence was to throw a hammer through the glass window. And a moment later the glass was shattered after immense courage.
"I want to meet father" The words heavy prolonged the silence as they reached the end of the room to the elder woman.
"No discussions at the dinner table" just one sentence and she resumed eating earning a huff from the younger one.
"When else do I get a chance to see you" Though her words were true and harsh she received no reply from her mother. "Should I take your silence in affirmation" She pushed away the plate smirking at her mother she stared waiting for the reaction.
"Stop this nonsense, Idalia" The words were low but they were enough for the maids to heed the warning rush away from the room leaving the door closed behind.
"What you are doing is non sense. You don't have the right to stop me from seeing my father" This time her voice was loud. Filled with utter anger.
"I do whatever I want and YOU don't have the right to defy me." This time her mother replied her with the same anger she had talked with. "I won't allow you to see your father at any cost. And my decision is final." She stood up pushing away her chair slamming the table the sound echoing through the almost empty room.
"Why not?" Her jaw ached from clenching her teeth to hard but she couldn't cry.
"Not after what he did to my family" Her voice was low this time defeated.
"You don't have any proof of that. How can you keep me away from my father just because of those stupid rumors?" She too stood up this time unable to believe her mother's words and reason for hatred.
"I don't want hear even a single more word. Leave" You may take your dinner in your room" Her mother pointed at the door and with one more look of resentment towards her mother she stomped out of the room wiping one stray tear that escaped.
Idalia slammed the door with all the might she had. Her mind plotted of every single way of escape as she stomped around her room from left to right. Her eyes fell upon the dew covered window, wiping it with one hand she stared at the view beneath her. The palace guards patrolled around the garden covered in long black hoods shielding from the rain. She cursed silently staring at them She knew the course of shifts and how unbeatable their defense was. No one was trusted not even inside the palace. Not after her grandparents' murder. Not even her father….
She continued to stare at them as if a way would present itself to her. As if her prayers were answered an idea clicked into her mind and she rushed to her cupboard. Pulling out her bag she began to pack with a few essentials food and a pair of clothes she wasn't sure how long it would take her to land there. She strapped the knives on her thigh her sheathed sword hung around her shoulder. She was all set to leave.
She peeked through the door finding the floor empty she tiptoed towards the back servants' staircase. A guard stood there, black hood hanging on his shoulders covered in ice blue designs on the border that kissed the floor. Hearing her footsteps, he swiveled around assessing her. She motioned for him to come forward and unable to deny his princess's orders he climbed upstairs. The moment he reached towards her she strangled him. But she had underestimated him he was stronger than her. His clawing hands dug into her arms she pushed him back against the wall with all her might and he slipped through her grip onto the ground unconscious. Mission accomplished. Silently cheering for herself she unbuttoned the hood from the guard pulling him into her room she tied him with her bedsheets. She couldn't risk him going around the palace and revealing her. Hopefully she would be gone before he woke up.
Covering herself in the hood she positioned herself exactly where the guard had stood. She waited for the moment the shifts changed. The guards began to move and she waited for her turn. Her hands clenched and unclenched beside her with nervousness. A guard appeared at the end of staircase and she knew this was her queue. Slightly bowing at the guard she walked out in the lawn the new guards spreading around the garden like wild fire.
She turned around staring at the castle behind her. Her home. Covered in glass it stood there shining in its utmost glory no signs of the hardships and blood that it's leaders bore that its descendant went through and the blood it's ancestors lost. But for now she had to leave. She may come back again but she had no idea about that. Keeping her head low ignoring the thoughts rummaging through her mind and her drumming heart she walked towards the secret passage of the palace.
Hues of blues appeared around her fingers as she moved them around her eyes focused on the lock. The lock was a second away from clicking open when she felt her heard miss a beat.
"What are you doing here?" A voice asked her and she looked around to see a guard few feet away from her a thick shield of raindrops being a translucent wall between them.
"I saw someone out here we should check quick." She kept her head low as she spoke.
He looked at him with suspicion but the shield of heavy rain between them prevented him to guess who she was. "Are you sure?"
"How much long are you going to wait? he will run away" she scolded the guard her hands behind her back performing the magic. They heard the lock click open and she pushed the door.
"You go from that side I'll go there" Without waiting for his answer she ran in the opposite direction of the palace. One last look at the high walls of palace as she ran ahead of the palace boundaries and she knew she was free.
She wanted to fly but the rain was too strong for her too support that. So now she walked around the city with empty markets the storm had shut people inside their homes. She looked around the place from shops to shops alleys to alleys, hoping someone would be able to help her for the night. Her legs had begun to ache and her hood was soaked causing the shivering cold to seep inside her. Tired she slid down against one of the walls of houses in a small alley unaware of where she was. She was in a desperate need for some rest she had walked a long way here and she couldn't walk to the fire kingdom. She wished she could teleport but she had never once be there to teleport herself. She took of the hood letting the rain fall upon her face. It was cold but she loved the feeling of it. Her moment though didn't last long.
"Who are you?" The voice startled her. She turned around to see a palace guard in the similar hood stood there his spear in his hand ready to attack.
Instead of replying to the guard she sprinted with all her might the guard tailing right behind him. Before the guard could catch up she unsheathe her sword from her back her sword began to glow hues of purple seeping from the silver and purple handle of the sword. And within a fraction of time she was up in flight above the ground soaring through the air she had no choice now but to fight the rain.
Morning sun glared in the eyes of the purple dragon bathing in the sea of the sunlight unaware of where it was and how long it had been since in flight it flew around slowly above the green blanketed mountains of the earth kingdom not the destination it wanted.
Idalia was aware this wasn't the fire kingdom the only two things she had heard was it was upon barren mountains and the palace was seen from miles ahead so she flew around waiting for the barren mountains to appear in front of her.
