CASSIE

I was struck instantly with his bright blue eyes 'Is this my wolf?' I thought to myself as he descended the stairs.

I had met a couple other wolves, 'Kevin…' I think his name was and another man, but they were not my wolf. Kate then introduced me to the Bride and Groom, Patrick and his mate Angela on their way to see her brother, Angela is a kindergarten teacher out in Idaho and Patrick is a Forest Ranger, in addition to being the Beta.

'Sounds Busy' I thought as they regaled on how they met, her wolf pouncing on him while he was fly fishing in the river, "in my waiters... Might I add" he stated and we all laughed at that and how she thought the river had almost swept him up because he was so dumbstruck, when in reality he had a fish on the line the whole time and didn't want to lose it.

She only realized the situation after she jumped into the river to save him, when he refused to give up his pole as she was dragging him to shore by his waiter straps. Needless to say, they were perfect for each other as they camped out under the stars sharing the Salmon by the fire and their future.

I met Olivia Turner, who is the wedding planner, slash "sister from another mister" as Kate says, telling me they have been thick as thieves since the moment they met and will grow old with or without a mate and I liked her instantly as I too feel like I have an instant connection and hoped we would be fast friends.

Kate took me down to the 3rd floor, where she pointed out the bathroom and my room, then said everyone will meet up at the bottom of the staircase as we parted ways to get ready for tonight. I had primped and prodded myself for this moment and I most certainly have caught the attention of the Alpha.

I glanced at his profile slightly out of the corner of my eye, not wanting to be caught, 'Daniel… he said his name was,' I pondered, he has a distinguished aurora about him and his jawline is curved slightly with a prickly shadowed beard running along his.

My stomach did flip flops when he was accessing my wares as his smoldering gaze told me exactly what he thought about my outfit and I smiled to myself inwardly," have you lived around here for long?" he asked as he guided me into the dining room.

There are two double doors that lead out into the back yard with tables placed all around and along the front of the room, there was a line of tables set out for the bride and groom, plus their immediate family.

"I moved here a few weeks ago from Michigan and I absolutely love all the nature and quiet... Things I don't get to enjoy much of," I admitted with a smile as he pulled me to a table that was situated in the front of the wedding party.

My back was angled towards the bride and groom as Daniel pulled out a chair for me.

'What a gentleman' I thought with a smile as Daniel took the seat to my right and Kate sat to my left, "Michigan, what is it like there?" Kate asked with a smile.

"Oh there are some similarities, such as weather, but with less open space and more humans," I stated as I looked around the large spaceh and she gave me an understanding nod, "More death in a higher population," She stated and I nodded my agreement.

"Out here I can get more time to myself without having to go from one passing soul to the next constantly." I informed and Daniel regarded me with fascination, "Well I am glad you are here and I hope over the coming week you enjoy yourself" he said with a grin and I smiled back.

"I'm sure I won't be able to stay away, your sister has become quite infatuated with me," I said teasingly and Daniel chuckled, "that she has," he agreed and leaned in closer, "she is not the only one," he admitted and my eyes did a double take, for a minute I thought his eyes became darker, but when I looked again all I could see was his striking bright blue eyes staring back at me.

My belly did a little flip and then I felt the tug of that invisible string, 'I'm surprised I made it this long, I thought, reluctantl, "I have to go" I said and Daniel gave me a bewildered look.

"What!?" he asked, confused and I wince "I'll be right back," I said a little more assuredly and then "poof" I was gone.

I was in the forest and there was a cabin, some logs piled up in front of the house next to the door and a faint glow coming out the window and a dog barking. I walked towards the house and a big blood hound stood barking at me as I peeped through the pane, not seeing anyone else.

I figured I can knock since were out in nowhere land, in the middle of a Forest, I bet I look ridiculous, 'a young woman in a tutu no less in the middle of the forest,' I thought to myself, I should be thankful its summer.

I didn't get a response from anyone, but a barking dog warning me off its territory, so I cautiously opened the door a crack to allow him to smell of me.

Animals have a natural sense of people and they usually come to me for comfort, probably knowing what I am.

He took a sniff with a little growl, but then then whined and backed off in a submissive gesture as I slowly walked in.

"Hey... Buddy" I said softly as he came up to me slowly, wagging his tail and I rubbed behind his ears, "rough day I see… looks like it was just you and him huh?" I asked expectantly and his ears perked up a little to that and he strode into the back bedroom, where I am sure his master is and I followed along.

In the bed lays a big burly form, unmoving, but he has not passed quite yet. I walked over to him, pulling a chair that I see tucked just inside the door and sat down in front of him and his eyes widened. He was weak and holding onto the threads of life as I can hear the wheezing in his breath and I placed my hands in his as I smile into his face.

He was alone here, souls can attach themselves to things and objects and I would hate for him to linger over his love of his furry companion, "I won't leave him to die alongside you and I will find him a home where he will be loved as you loved him," I stated, looking into his eyes and there was warmth in his face as I said those words.

His breathing became ragged and timed around me slowed as the big burly man's soul rose to meet me with a bright smile, "Thank You Darling, I've been worried about Old Brutus here and that nobody would find him if I passed" he said and it's just as I suspected,

"I can assure you I will take care of him, now all I need you to do is keep on living as I'm here to help you move into you next life," I said with a smile, "I hope it's as long or longer than this one" I added sweetly to him and the man guffawed with a salute and disappeared.

I walked back into the main room and started looking for some mail or anything with his name on it, this man is up here and nobody is probably keeping track. I see a stack of mail sitting by the door in a little basket and I looked through tell I found what I was looking for, "Bart Jacobs" it said on the notice.

I grabbed the piece of mail and took the leash off the holder by the door, "Brutus… come on boy," I said and he came out and sat expectantly for me to put on his leash "you're going to come to live with me now," I said to him as I hooked up the leash.

"I made a promise to Bart and I am going to keep it," I said and he seems reluctant with that assessment as he turned his head "come on, were missing an engagement party," I said as I "poofed" back into the ballroom.
