Lead The Way

"But are you by any chance refusing me to meet her by showing your authority?" Glinda flinched, how could a kid be spot on and so clever.

She had used enough excuses that should have worked on an adult but she was so stubborn.

If she would have been any other noble, she would have dealt with her accordingly but she was the princess adn her father was a cold blooded murderer.

No matter how much the nobles hated him, they could do nothing but bow their heads and she was more irritating than her cold father.

"That is not what I meant, princess. It is common that kids could not grasp the matter of adults easily.

So, I understand that you are having difficulty in understanding the seriousness of the matter. But I am sure that the royal knights would not want the lady to suffer abuse at such a tender age and as a woman and a mother, I was just worried about her.

You are putting me in a tight spot. What if something happened to her and his majesty placed the responsibility on me." she squeezed a tear from her eyes as she raised her head and looked at the head of the knights with a look of worry on her face.

Though she was the princess, she was a kid. But this man.. He had fought so many battles with his majesty. So, despite being a commoner, she knew that he held great authority when it came to the matter of the royal family.

If she would be able to convince him then she could still diffuse the situation. There was no way that he would want to take the risk when she was exaggerating the threat so much.

"If you are so worried about the princess, lady Glinda, I could accompany her." Renata who was already ready with a befitting reply tilted her head and stared at the woman who had interrupted them to see what was their new ploy.

When she noticed a woman with golden hair and heart shaped face that looked like a doll was coming towards her.

Her blue eyes were filled with warmth and she was looking at Renata as if she was staring at a dream. Afraid to blink eyes as if the dream would disappear from her eyes.

She felt strange while looking at the woman who stood in front of her.

Instead of bowing her head, she sat on her knees that was no less than kneeling in front of her.

A posture that was too humiliating for a noble woman in public. But it did not look like the woman cared about it even a bit.

Her eyes were staring at Renata as if she was trying to embed her features in her heart.

"You may not know me, princess. I am Olivia, Olivia Thainward. My husband used to serve his majesty a long time ago. I am.." Renata, who was observing the woman with a look of curiosity, turned cold when she heard the name of her father.

Though she hid it in the fraction of a second, the woman noticed how the demeanor of the young child changed instantly.

"Since you are afraid that she could be hurt. The knights could protect her from physical hurt while I can assure that no one would hurt her verbally.

So, it should not be a problem to take the girl to meet the moniker, Lady glinda. Right?" she asked in a loud voice so that everyone could hear her when Glinda gritted her teeth.

Another fool! She was the one and only daughter of the duke and since the family of Thawyne had been lost as the duke. She could have enjoyed the sole privilege and could have been called princess.

But she gave up all of that to be a mere countess and married one of the sides of Leonardo.

She must have thought that he was a close person of the emperor but his majesty refused to take him back.

He dismissed him from his services and chose Reynold over him.

Now he only works as a count and manages a small estate. Their fief was not even half of what her father used to have yet to look at her.

How dare she stand tall and proud in front of her. Glinda felt that her nerves are going to burst with anger as she stared at all of them

But when she felt the intense gaze of the knights, she had to nod her head reluctantly.

"If you were with the princess, I am sure that no one would be able to harm her. Hehe" she laughed awkwardly as she turned and led the way towards the room of the attic.

If she had known that this was going to happen, she would have given that bitch a better room even if it was just for a day.

Her eyes filled with panic of what others would think when she would find her room and look at her injuries. That bitch deserved it but she could not tell it to others.

She wanted to bite her nails but controlled when her son came from the other side.

He blinked his eyes with a look of assurance and she stopped in her tracks.

"Mother, you are looking tired. Let me escort them while you should take care of the knights." he placed his hands on her shoulders and nodded meaningfully when her tensed body relaxed finally.

She knew that her son was too wise, "thank you son. Then I shall leave." she bowed her head and stepped aside when he bowed his head.

"Welcome princess to our humble abode. Lady Olivia, it has been a long time since I have met your father. I hope you will help me in passing my greetings.

Shall I show you the way to the room of my step mother!"
