Confrontation II

Ted watched the expensive car wheel out of the driveway and into the tarred road at an incredibly fast speed. It only took a little short of a minute after which he couldn't see the booth of the car any longer from where he stood. He turned, then and went inside.

Shutting the door behind him, he skulked into the sitting room but found two people missing; his father and the person he desperately wanted to chat with — Elma. He reckoned she'd left for her room the minute he walked out the door because not even her mild flowery perfume retained in her wake. Ted continued his walk in spite of himself.

"Did she go to her room already?" He asked the only person he could still find in the room.

"Yes," Marilyn said quickly. "She looked too pale to even sit out a late dinner. She must have had a tough day, after all."

"You mean you let her go to bed like that? She didn't taste anything like food before climbing back up?"
