Illegitimate child, Polly Song looked Michael Knight up and down, and two words were written all over her face: jerk.
Michael Knight seemed to be in a better mood, he took out his phone, "Why don't we add each other on WeChat, and when you buy the laptop, I'll cover the bill?"
That computer was for professional design work, it was very expensive, so without thinking, Polly Song added the private WeChat of the movie star that countless others could only dream of getting, "It's a deal then, you can't back out."
"If I back out, you can find him. He's on the same household registration with you, can't escape." Michael Knight happily left before Victoria Parker could get angry.
Once Michael Knight left, there were only the two of them left in the office. Victoria lightly tapped her fingers on the table, "Do I like men?"
Polly Song's gaze wandered, "Our agreement was for me to deal with those awful suitors for you, but it didn't specify the methods."
"The bad suitors are gone, but are you asking me to divorce you just to end my lineage?"
Polly Song thought of the two little kids at home, ending your lineage is almost impossible, but...
Polly Song couldn't help it: "President Parker, do you have some misunderstanding about yourself? Isn't a person like you destined to be alone?"
What's the use of being good-looking, if you're not using that mouth?
"Since that's the case, it was hard enough for me to get a wife, why should I divorce?"
"President Parker, you're so dashing and talented, as handsome as Pan An, and talented like Li Bai. Any woman you fancy would undoubtedly be very fond of you, and by then, it would be mutual affection." Polly Song spewed out a storm of words, afraid he might really not want a divorce, "True love doesn't care about gender. When President Parker meets true love, you won't care about these rumors."
Victoria looked at Polly Song, she could really spin both good sense and nonsense into her words.
"My clothes from today are in there. Wash them and bring them back clean."
"No way!" Polly Song's hair stood on end. Her clothes were washed by Charlotte Cook, so how could she wash his clothes?
"That stain on the clothes was from saving you." Victoria reminded her.
Polly Song's mouth twitched. Someone with any sense of shame wouldn't be able to say something like that.
"It was just..." The coffee beans had spilled, but before she could finish, Polly Song looked towards Victoria's break room; it wasn't in the office area, maybe it's in the rest area?
"Fine, I'll wash them for you, just wait." Polly Song said, hurrying off to Victoria's break room; Andrew Lindsey shouldn't lie to her about this.
Victoria Parker's break room was as simple as his office, just a bed, a wardrobe, and the clothes that had been changed were hanging on a rack by the door, one could see at a glance that there was no model.
Polly Song looked back at Victoria. Victoria was leaning against the chair watching her, Polly wanted to run, but grabbed the clothes from the rack, "Alright, isn't it just washing clothes?"
"Remember, hand wash."
Polly Song looked back at Victoria, wanting to throw the clothes back in his face, but she dared not, ahhhh—
After Polly Song left, Andrew Lindsey came in. Victoria was standing by the window, behind the curtain was the meandering water model he had recently pushed in.
"You say she wants this?"
Andrew Lindsey nodded, "Miss Song seemed uninterested in the other models in the model room, only mentioning this one."
Victoria looked at the exquisite but slightly yellowed model, which was a birthday gift from Mason Rook when he was six, because he knew Victoria liked the design of the meandering water, and it had taken a year to make it for him.
Unfortunately, the day after his birthday, the Rook Family went up in flames.
That woman really had an eye for recognizing something good.
It's a pity that many of the woodworking designs in the meandering water have been lost, making it a structure that can never be recreated.
Polly Song didn't find the meandering water and ended up giving herself a task, and back at school, she was still wondering if she'd been tricked.
The teacher's wife came in to see her sitting on a stool with her feet in a basin washing clothes, "What are you thinking about so deeply?"
"Teacher's wife, I went into the place in Parker Corporation where they keep their models, but there wasn't any meandering water there. Could it be that Parker Corporation never had the model?" Polly Song couldn't help but ask.
"That resort was the first of its kind in the country, and it disappeared decades ago. Parker Corporation only started making models in the past decade or so, it's impossible for them to have the meandering water, why are you still looking for it?" The teacher's wife sat next to her, patting her feet to have her lift them out, then started hand washing the clothes, "Whose clothes are these? Your senior's?"
Just from the fabric and style, it didn't look like clothes her disciple would wear, "Are you in a relationship?"
"No way!" Polly Song immediately retorted, "But I heard that Victoria Parker has a model of the meandering water."
"He does indeed, made personally by Mason Rook, it's said to be a complete replica, but no one has seen it."
Polly Song: "!!!"
So it's not in the office, maybe it's in his home?
"If the model is found, can the meandering water be recreated?"
"Impossible, many of the woodworking techniques in the meandering water have been lost, especially since the Rook family tragedy, some mortise and tenon structures disappeared along with it." The teacher's wife lamented while washing the clothes.
Polly Song, propping her chin, went into a daze, "Was the Rook family's fire truly an accident? Didn't a single person make it out?"
How is that different from extermination?
"The case was closed as improper electrical use by the Rook Family, coupled with it being all wood, it's not surprising."
"But teacher's wife, because it's all wooden structure, and Mason Rook was a master in the building world, the water and fire prevention systems should have been well set up, it really doesn't add up..."
"It's been so many years, you've been researching the meandering water for ages, do you really like it so much?"
Polly Song nodded, "I really like it, it just feels..."
She couldn't put it into words, it was as if something struck her heart, like this structure shouldn't have just disappeared, it needed to be seen by more people.
"Oh no, these clothes shouldn't be washed in cold water." The teacher's wife suddenly exclaimed, as she scooped up the clothes which were now all wrinkled.
Polly Song: "How is it fussier than a human!"
Just like its owner, who is unlikeable.
"Whose clothes are these?" This time the teacher's wife was certain, these clothes absolutely weren't something ordinary people could afford to wear, they had no brand, probably custom-made.
Polly Song eyed the unruly clothes, her thoughts still on the model things, "Isn't it just a piece of clothing? Can't I just buy one and give it back?"
"This clothing doesn't look cheap, similar to one your teacher had, probably tens of thousands."
Polly Song: "..."
How much? Did she go deaf?
