Polly Song held her sketchbook while listening to gossip, capturing her inspiration as she saw Andrew Lindsey entering and waving at him enthusiastically.
Andrew Lindsey: "..."
Mrs. Parker being suddenly warm towards him usually meant no good news.
"Assistant Lindsey, I remember Parker Corporation had a resort in the '60s or '70s that combined ancient Chinese gardens and Western art, but it was flattened due to development later. Does Parker Corporation have a layout of that resort?" This was the main reason why Polly Song was willing to come here.
The design of the Parker Family's resort was like the pinnacle of the architectural world, but unfortunately, that ceiling crumbled, leaving only legends for future generations to hear about.
"The designer of that resort, Mr. Mason Rook, passed away more than twenty years ago. It's said that no one from the Rook Family escaped that great fire back then, and all of Mr. Mason Rook's designs were burned. Such a complex design, no one could recreate it, right?" A male architect spoke, clearly also feeling regret.
"There's a 1:200 replica model in the president's office."
"Victoria Parker's office has it?" Polly Song's eyes lit up instantly, "Let's go, let's go, we'll head to Victoria Parker's office."
"Who do you think Victoria Parker is, someone you can meet just because you want to? Don't get us kicked out by annoying President Parker, okay?" One girl said impatiently, clearly treating Polly Song as a pretty vase who got in with her looks.
Polly Song turned her head to look at the women who were clearly hostile towards her, her demeanor proud like a little peacock, "Assistant Lindsey, your president wants to see me, right?"
"Yes, the president specifically asked me to invite Miss Song over."
"What?"
Polly Song was dumbfounded. She just wanted to show off a bit!
She wanted to go to Victoria Parker's office, not to meet Victoria Parker herself!
There's a fundamental difference, okay?
Andrew Lindsey smiled appropriately, "Miss Song, please."
Polly Song used her eyes to ask: Is he really not busy with a meeting or something?
Andrew Lindsey: He's finished!
Polly Song timidly followed Andrew Lindsey out, the little peacock's tail drooping, proving that pretending to be grand never ends well; there's always the risk of being struck by lightning.
Polly Song took back her phone and glanced at the messages on it. "He can't be that petty, can he? You saw it yourself, he was the one who set the trap first. I was just saving myself," Polly Song tried to justify herself.
And this time, Polly Song didn't resist at all in following Andrew Lindsey upstairs, still for the sake of the flowing water setup. She'd only seen a silhouette of the flowing water painting in her teacher's study, but it had captivated her. However, she was later told that Mr. Mason Rook's entire family had perished in a fire, and even the design drawings were lost. The original resort was long gone, replaced by skyscrapers.
"Hahaha, Sophie Lynn is good in every way, except she loves gossiping. With a mouth so loose, almost all of City A now knows you like men. Oh, Victoria Parker, you didn't have to go so far just to avoid marrying her, did you?" Michael Knight laughed arrogantly in Victoria Parker's office, completely different from the rumors of him being a perfect gentleman, a paragon of grace.
Victoria Parker changed her clothes, giving the legendary actor a cold look, "Backlisted? Got so much free time?"
"I've got plenty of bookings, just that I haven't been back for years. I didn't know you got married, and it's a fake marriage? That's pretty scummy behavior, really. So, who is the man you fancy?" Michael Knight looked at his friend, realizing the person he saw at the airport that day was Victoria Parker's sham spouse. What a pity.
"President, Miss Song has arrived." Andrew Lindsey announced from outside the door.
"The instigator has arrived." Victoria Parker leaned back in her chair, watching the person enter.
As Polly Song entered, her eyes darted around, attempting to find the flowing water model.
Michael Knight turned to look at the woman who entered. She was sneaking about just like a small mouse in an empty oil barrel, desperately trying to find something, yet it was oddly adorable on her.
Polly Song's big eyes quickly scanned the office but didn't see any models. She turned back to look at Andrew Lindsey with a grievance, accusing him of lying.
Andrew Lindsey touched the tip of his nose and decisively chose to leave.
"Miss Song, we meet again." Michael Knight leaned on Victoria Parker's desk, looking at Polly Song with a smile.
Only then did Polly Song notice Michael Knight, "President Parker has guests. I'll just..."
"Mrs. Parker, don't you want to explain this 'I like men' thing?" Victoria Parker spoke icily, halting someone's steps away.
Polly Song's little paw, just about to touch the door, wavered as her other hand grabbed it back strongly, turning to look at Victoria Parker, "I was trying to solve your blind date problem once and for all. See, even if you want to now, none of the affluent ladies in City A would likely fancy you anymore."
"So I should thank you?"
"No need, just get our divorce papers." Polly Song said generously, quite the smart cookie, coming up with such a great idea.
The key was that Sophie Lynn came through, spreading the news so fast.
"Getting divorced then? I wonder if I can cut in the line of those pursuing Miss Song?" Michael Knight, unfazed by being ignored, forcefully inserted himself into their conversation.
Victoria Parker looked displeasingly at his friend, as if to see whether he was serious or joking.
Polly Song also looked at Michael Knight, "I remember now; you were the celebrity who smashed my computer yesterday."
Forgive someone who's spent a long time on construction sites; they really don't have time to follow celebrities.
Michael Knight was rarely stumped for a moment, so Polly Song didn't know him at all.
The international actor felt a hit. Do young girls today not watch TV? Not watch movies? Not surf the web?
"You, you don't know me?" The actor couldn't stand the injustice.
"Yeah, your fan knocked me down and broke my computer. I can't even turn it on, compensate me." This was something she only found out after returning home last night; her computer was broken. She hadn't yet reached out, yet here he was.
"Hahaha..." Michael Knight suddenly burst out laughing, nearly tearing up.
Polly Song quietly inched closer to Victoria Parker, thinking this person's brain might be abnormal, but then darted away upon catching Victoria Parker's gaze. This room was really frightening!
Victoria Parker let out a mocking laugh.
After calming down, Michael Knight said, "Sure, tell me what computer you want; I'll buy it for you."
Victoria Parker and Michael Knight grew up together, knowing his temperament better than anyone. In the entertainment circle and even across elite circles, Michael Knight was known for his good manners, yet those who truly knew him knew he had a core of detachment. However, his attitude towards Polly Song now was genuinely warm, even... indulgent!
"Really..."
"Seems like you're too idle. Have all those online scandals and gossip been handled? The rumors about an illegitimate child resolved?" Victoria Parker spoke abruptly, looking directly at Michael Knight.
