Chapter 6: Then Let Mrs. Parker Come See Me

Polly Song hurriedly scanned her surroundings, her heart practically leaping out of her chest.

"Does Assistant Lindsey need something?"

"Miss Song, due to the significant importance of the Parker bid, Parker Corporation specially invited all bidders to visit and view all the hotels, resorts, and commercial buildings under the Parker Corporation."

"I can use Baidu for that."

"Miss Song, you wouldn't want the CEO to personally pick you up, would you?" Andrew Lindsey threatened her gently with a mild smile.

Polly suddenly thought of the flashy women she saw at the party, and instantly understood.

She's there to prepare to block him from the advances of others, not ward off the flowers of romance.

"Alright, I'll go. How could I not when President Parker invites in person?"

The main attraction is that the hotels, resorts, and commercial buildings under the Parker Corporation are mostly designed by famous designers. Although complete images are available online, they do not match the comprehensive and detailed collections in Parker Corporation's gallery.

"Shall I pick you up tomorrow then?"

"No need, I'll go by myself. You're busy, Assistant Lindsey, there's no need to come looking for me without reason." Polly finished the call, leaving with Daisy Joy and Charlotte Cook in the car.

"Is mommy going to work again?" Little Daisy nestled in Polly's arms, her little mouth pouting enough to hang a tiny oil bottle.

Little Charlotte placed their backpacks in place, sitting beside mommy, "When are you going, mommy?"

"Tomorrow. But mommy will be in City A, and I'll be back home by the afternoon." Polly lifted Little Daisy out of her arms and buckled their seatbelts.

Little Daisy let out a squeal, her big eyes sparkling as she started chattering to mommy about recent happenings with her and her brother.

Meanwhile, Little Charlotte sat quietly on the side, her small fists clenched tightly on her little knees.

******

The Parker Corporation is developing a new resort for the first time in a decade, and media reports began two months ago.

Parker Corporation started with dining and later opened chain hotels worldwide. Its unique designs and landscaping have made it a leader in the hotel service industry.

But in recent years, unavoidable factors have severely impacted the dining and tourism industry, making Parker's finances look grim.

And yet, at this time, Victoria Parker's first move as the Chief Executive Officer of Parker Corporation is to develop a new resort, which seems like a suicidal move.

Victoria Parker not only wants to develop a new resort but also abandoned her previous famous architect collaborators for a bidding process.

Seven bidding companies were selected, and besides two males, the rest visiting Parker Corporation were all females.

There is an entire floor in Parker Corporation dedicated to 100:1 scale models; each room holds a hotel or resort model, a place every architect dreams of entering.

Polly Song heard a lot of employees privately complaining as she meandered behind the staff, merely wishing to hear more criticisms about Victoria Parker.

Listening makes her feel content.

Polly felt more cheerful the more she listened but didn't notice she lagged behind, inadvertently following the staff to the pantry.

The two employees gossiping about their boss eyed Polly cautiously, "Who are you?"

Polly, utterly unconcerned about awkwardness, leaned against the door, waved her hand, and feigned familiarity, "Mainly because I think you're absolutely right. Besides a good family background, Victoria Parker doesn't have much going for her."

The two staff members suddenly saw their boss standing behind Polly, their eyes widening in shock, "You, you better not talk nonsense. We never said that. President Parker is amazing; he has so many strengths!"

They hurriedly squeezed past Polly with their cups, respectfully addressing the CEO as they left, though visibly trembling.

Polly: "..."

What's it like to get caught bad-mouthing someone?

Embarrassing!

So embarrassing!

Victoria Parker approached Polly and stopped behind her, "Continue."

Polly clutched her notebook, suddenly turning around, not expecting Victoria Parker to stand so close. As she spun, she bumped into him and stumbled back.

As Polly began to fall, she grabbed Victoria Parker, not foreseeing her move, causing both to crash into a rack filled with paper cups and coffee.

In a flash, as cups and coffee started to tumble, Polly yanked Victoria Parker, sprawling herself into his embrace as cups, stick coffees, and coffee beans showered his back.

Victoria Parker's expression instantly turned frosty, but before he could grab Polly, she clutched her laptop and dashed away, periodically glancing back with a gesture of defiance, as if he deserved it for his mischief.

Victoria Parker, now covered in coffee beans, watched Polly dash off, pondering if this woman was sent to annoy him?

Andrew Lindsey hurried in and, before saying anything, had a suit jacket thrown at him by Victoria Parker, "Switch all the company's coffee to instant packets."

Andrew quickly followed, sensing hard times ahead.

"Tell Polly Song to come to my office to see me." Victoria Parker walked briskly, clearly anxious to change as the coffee beans trickled inside his clothes, causing discomfort.

Andrew opened the office door, "Miss Song is here as a designer to study, not yet one of our company's partners."

And even as a partner, she's not a company employee.

Victoria Parker paused inside the office, turning to Andrew, "Then have Mrs. Parker come see me."

Andrew had nothing left to say, silently wishing Mrs. Parker well.

When Polly Song inquired about the models' floor, everyone had already started learning on their own. Polly registered at the entrance before heading in.

"Do you think we'll see Victoria Parker this time? I only had a glimpse at the party, but he is indeed quite handsome. I didn't expect him to be even more handsome than Michael Knight, whom I thought was unbeatable."

"I hope my design gets selected this time. Then I can meet President Parker!"

Polly slightly smirked as she listened to the women's chat, her eyes drooping towards a Suzhou Gardens-style design before her, which was Parker Corporation's resort in M Country, exuding a Chinese aesthetic.

"But I heard Victoria Parker has a bet with Parker's shareholders this time. If Parker Corporation's finances don't double in the next three years, she'll have to leave the board."

Polly's ears perked up. She couldn't miss such intriguing gossip.

Andrew Lindsey, coming over to find someone, spotted Polly, her ears keenly tuned to gossip, hoping she maintains such leisurely positivity later.
