Chapter 27: What Does It Feel Like to Love Someone?

"Let go of me." Polly's neck ached from his grip, and she reasonably suspected this man was seeking revenge.

"One day, I'm going to break those monkey legs of yours. Let's see how you run then." Victoria released her, threatening her.

Polly hurriedly retreated to the doorway, rubbing the back of her neck where it hurt. First, he squeezed her neck, now he pinched her neck skin; this man seemed bent on ending her.

"What's this?" Victoria caught a whiff of a strange fragrance and then noticed the round object she was holding.

"Someone else gave it to me, don't touch it." Polly immediately stuffed the wooden ball into her bag, looking like a preschooler who got hold of a fun toy and was terrified of a bully snatching it away.

Victoria was that bully.

After securing her belongings, Polly looked at Victoria, "What are you doing here?"

Only then did Polly notice the missed calls on her phone, dozens from Andrew Lindsey.

"Assistant Lindsey, did you need something from me?" There were so many calls that her phone was almost dead.

Driving, Andrew replied carefully, "Since we're abroad, and Mrs. Parker doesn't speak the language, it's best not to wander around. Otherwise, the boss might worry."

"Me, worried about her?"

"Him, worried about me?"

The two exchanged looks, seeing a mutual disdain in each other's eyes.

After smiling, Andrew successfully made his exit and focused on driving.

Polly turned her head to look outside, thinking she must stay far away from this man after the divorce, or she might not live long.

"What did you just say you encountered?" Victoria knew Mr. Yang wasn't there today, yet Polly stayed at the mansion for hours. It was strange for the host to leave a guest alone at home unless there was someone else in charge.

"A man more handsome than an immortal. And Mr. Yang's backyard surprisingly has a garden, which feels different from his usual style. It must be designed by that man." Polly started sharing her story, momentarily choosing not to bicker with him.

Listening to Polly, Victoria's eyebrows slightly furrowed, and his gaze became more scrutinizing, "You said, he let you into the back garden of the estate?"

His people had attempted multiple times to enter that place to no avail. Besides being heavily guarded, there was another significant reason: that place employed an ancient Eight Trigrams Array. It's like a maze; if you're unfamiliar with it, you basically can't get out.

But Polly went in so easily?

Polly nodded, "I was just wandering and ended up inside. Is it some kind of mysterious place?"

Finishing her sentence, Polly realized Victoria's expression looking at her was odd, silently stepping back a bit, "You can't blame me for having bad luck. Blame it on your mouth, alright?"

"You should really thank God for turning a blind eye and forgetting to take you every time." Victoria let out a cold laugh. If Mr. Yang truly had ill intentions toward Polly, presenting herself to him like that would have gotten her killed long ago.

Polly moved her lips, clenched her fist, and took a deep breath, deciding not to argue with someone whose brain was a mess.

The two returned to the hotel, finding a crowd of women in the lobby holding banners and support signs. Having been knocked over twice before, Polly immediately hid behind Victoria.

Victoria glanced sidelong at the hand gripping his arm, "Impressive."

Polly, hiding behind Victoria, slightly pursed her lips, "Next time, I should tie a big speaker to Michael Knight. As soon as he's a hundred meters away, it should announce he's coming, he's coming with his fans, so I can run faster."

"That's probably the only sensible thing I've heard you say since we met."

Staff hurriedly approached Victoria, "Someone leaked Teacher Knight's whereabouts. His fans have grouped together to support him at the hotel, and he's still on set filming, unable to return yet."

Standing on tiptoe, Polly surveyed the bustling crowd, "What does it feel like to love someone unrelated by blood with such abandon?"

The way to the elevator was blocked, and the staff struggled to disperse the crowd without much success.

"No idea."

"Someone like you wouldn't know." Polly was speaking to herself, not expecting Victoria to know either. After all, Victoria likely loved himself the most.

"Do you know?"

Both continued their petty bickering, as if knowing slightly more than the other would lead to victory.

"No idea." Polly smiled briefly before her expression changed.

"Ah, Michael Knight, Michael Knight..."

The girls suddenly grew excited, rushing forward, all for the man appearing at the hotel entrance.

Before Polly could be touched, Victoria pulled her back a step, preventing her from being knocked down again.

Looking up at the man before her, Polly observed that none of the girls rushing by could touch him, even though she knew how much force these people had when they surged.

After the girls surrounded him, Victoria turned and walked toward the elevator.

He had only taken a few steps before looking back to see Polly in a daze, "What are you standing there for? Move."

Polly snapped back to reality, "Can't I just watch the star-chasing scene?"

This person truly, may you die lonely!

Puffing her cheeks, Polly followed, "I'm just..."

Before she finished speaking, an unexpected fan collided into her, causing her to stumble forward. Victoria quickly caught her, turning away from the crowd.

Despite being escorted by his assistant and security, Michael Knight was still jostled and pressed. He couldn't escape quickly.

Once he finally entered the elevator, the crowd remained lingering in the lobby.

Victoria led Polly up the stairs to the second floor and entered the elevator from there.

Polly clutched her chest, trying to catch her breath, "This kind of love is terrifying."

"Stay away from him, or these people might stomp you flat," Victoria advised, looking at the still-breathless woman.

Polly opened her mouth to say something but then touched her shoulder suddenly, "Where's my bag?"

She realized that someone must have bumped into her, causing it to drop. She needed to go back and find her bag.

Back in the lobby, most fans had dispersed. Polly hadn't even inquired at the front desk before spotting Isabella Lowe holding her bag.

Seeing Polly, Isabella handed over the bag, "I thought it looked familiar and was about to bring it up to you."

Polly took her bag, checked the contents, and felt relieved that nothing was missing.

"Victoria, when are you planning to return home? I've just about wrapped things up here. Why don't we go back together?"

"Hold on, where are your manners?" Victoria called out to the person about to leave.
